Too Many Reviews for a Product?

Contributor: Sincerely yours, N Sincerely yours, N
Recently, I submitted a review for a product, but the review was declined because of "There are plenty of reviews on this product. Thank you for your submission."

I haven't heard of this happening before. Has this happened to anyone before? What is the maximum number of reviews for products?

I'd hate to spend the time to type up a review and have it go to waste again.

A good rule of thumb is if a product has over three hundred reviews for it then it probably doesn't need another.

This one had under.

I'm not really upset about this, but I do wish there had been some kind of warning so I wouldn't have wasted my time. I don't write reviews for the points (since a lot of the things I review weren't bought here) so it's not the lack of points that got to me, just the waste of time.

Learn something new every day -- I've never seen this. I agree it would be nice to know that a review wasn't needed, before typing up a review that will never been seen by anyone but you.

I can understand that. With a product like the wipes or the free c-ring, there isn't going to be a lot of difference between one person and the next's experience with the item. Most of the reviews on these two particular items are saying the same thing in a slightly different way. These are the only two products where reviews would be declined.

If it were the Stronic Eins or something like that where everyone will have a generally different experience to share, then having 100+ or more reviews on it would be fantastic.

That makes sense, thanks for explaining Stormy!

Would it be possible to implement some kind of "No More Reviews Needed" feature? I think it would be useful for future reference.

Also, on an unrelated note, is the date on the back the expiration date?

You're very welcome.

I was just thinking the very same thing! I'll definitely suggest this feature for the items mentioned.

It is a manufacturing date. Cosmetic wipes and most cosmetic products have a three to five year shelf life. These are on the three year side, as they do not contain alcohol.

Awesome, thanks again!

I'll just avoid reviewing products with a ton of reviews in the future.

Let's put a finite number on it, shall we? The wipes and c-rings are reviewed thoroughly, but everything else is pretty much up for grabs (except maybe the Hitachi itself. I think it has over 200 reviews as well). If you can add a unique perspective to something, then don't hesitate to write the review but it might be a great idea to lead with that information.

And this isn't a reflection on you or your writing style or anything like that, yours is not the first wipes review to be declined. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least ten others; same with the c-rings.

This is super thankful. Thank you so much!

But what if you have an item that only has a few reviews on it but every time to go to add your review, the site takes you to a page telling you to become a reviewer but you already are? I can't review anything on the site at all because it is telling me to sign up but I am already a member!

This is quite annoying and used to happen to me. It's probably your browser's fault - try clearing your cookies.

If SincerelyN's recommendation doesn't work, I would definitely contact Stormy for help! She can find out who to tell and what to do. This is odd because you've been a reviewer for so long!

I know they have been doing lots of site changes behind the scenes with the computer side of things (changing pages, stuff like that which we don't notice as much) and maybe you now have an issue with your browser. I know mine now will not let me get a drop down menu for My Eden, so to get to my profile or messages, I have to go to my assignment cart first then navigate from there. If I didn't like my version of Chrome so much (Comodo Dragon), I would switch to IE which seems to work fine, but I like my security and speed in my current browser, so...

Chrome is ridiculously stupid when it comes to certain things. For instance, there's a certain site I love going to that it does really wonky things with the scroll bar. I can't fix it to save my life.

I have done all of that and it still will not let me write any reviews. I sent an email message over a week ago and never heard anything so I keep trying and hoping it will work. I hope they didn't downgrade me for some reason. With my luck, it is possible! I am just hoping it is a computer glitch with the site or something!

I am having an issue similar to this... there are several products that I tried requesting that absolutely no reviews. I am under the assumption they have a description review pending, but that shouldn't deter me from getting it to review as well.

I'm getting frustrated because the changes that have been made here are making it extremely difficult for me to get any answers. I used to love Eden but it's hard to participate when it seems like it's dead.

I once was going to write a review on a product I really enjoyed. However I saw so many other reviews already I figured it would not matter. After all how many high marks does a product need before a person figures it is great ?
