Can you submit a request for a manufacturer sponsored review?

Contributor: Tessa Taboo Tessa Taboo
I already did the one sponsored by EF this month, and there is NOTHING in the manufacterer sponsored list that I want, or don't already have. But I guess my question is whether or not EF has any say in what reviews are sponsored by the manufacturer, and if they could even grant that request.

And on that note, how often do new things get added to that list of available things?

Ssshhh. It's a secret.

Just kidding. I don't think you can request a manufacturer sponsored review that isn't already on the list. I'm pretty sure that most of the items are new products and they are offered to Eden for us to review in limited quantities and are probably decided on by the manufacturer.

You can always do buyout reviews.

A Manufacturer Sponsored review is basically when a manufacturer says

"hey, would you mind giving these to some of your reviewers so they could review it for us?"...basically.

We don't really know when this will happen. It depends on the manufacturer.

I just did almost $200 in buyout reviews....lol. I need more points and stuff now! I just saw in another post though, that there are 3 types of assignments, so now I'm confused, as stated in that post.

Eden Monthly Sponsored for advanced users: One item that has 0-2 reviews in your price range.

Manufacturer Sponsored: You can do as many as you want in the month, provided you do not have any other assigned reviews out. Can be found on the product search page on the dashboard or in the list that JR puts up.

Descriptive Reviews: Items are assigned to users by administrators and are often "black box" items. These items are brand new and the user is asked to provide an objective, clinical but still honest review. You have to apply separately through Gary or JR.

Buyouts: Up to six at a time, 30% discount, does not interfere with other assigned reviews.

And of course you can just buy stuff and review them at your leisure regardless of what you have outstanding.

Like right now, I have one manufacturer sponsored review I have to do. One descriptive review. One porn club review and two buyout reviews. I have to finish one of the first two before I can request my free monthly item from Eden. And I have to finish my buyouts before I can get more with the 30% discount.

So, the 'descriptive review' program is different than the 'review' program... is that correct? And if so, how do I get in on this?

This is the main page for the review program, on this page you will find the descriptions of the different types of reviews and how to apply for that specific review.

In a nut shell, email gary @ edenfantasys dot com and ask to join the program after you've set up your product and material preferences. Include a little blurb about your writing skills and sit back and relax. Depending on what's going on in the product line up, you'll receive an assignment. You can choose to accept it or decline it, and you have two weeks to write the review.

The DR program is interesting. It isn't as dependable about getting reviews as your once-a-month one is. It depends upon what EF gets in that needs to be reviewed and once you are approved and on their list it may take a while for them to get to your name on the list.

I was speaking to someone who is an awesome reviewer and she said that it was about a month or so after she was accepted that she got her first product(s) and she'd just had her first item published and was working on her second.

I just got "accepted" by them a few days ago and have yet to have anything offered to me.

From what I understand - the DR program can be feast or famine. EF might get a ton of stuff that they need the descriptive reviews done on - or they might be in a cycle where they don't have anything for days or a week or so.

Just thought I'd share that information so you wouldn't be counting on it like you can your monthly review items!

Third is our Description Review Program. We have a select group of reviewers who receive new products and write objective descriptions from their experience. We only include reviewers who are reliable, write well, and can complete the reviews in a timely fashion. The Description Review Program Guidelines for this program outline the process.
