I don't know of anyone copying my work. That's just wrong on so many levels.
Anyone ever copied your review?

Same for me. Sometimes doing reviews, I find myself getting stuck on how to word something or what to say in general so reading other people's reviews on the same product is just used as inspiration. I would never think to copy someone's review word for word. It's very aggravating to know that people actually do that.

AW! I am SO sorry this happened to you. Nobody has ever copied my reviews that I am aware of , but just this month I had a SERIOUS issue with my entire blog being copied and pasted by someone who was actually stalking me and my partner. She'd followed us around town last week while we took the 13 year old out! It's scary and when confronted 3 times, she took the blog down. Everything I have is copy righted and I have a stat counter now and she'd been visiting my blog 100 + times A DAY! Once it was 109 times! Anyways, 3 times she had put the blog back up after it being removed. Then she'd just make a new one with my copied work. It's gotten much better since I blocked her IP but she even went so far as to tell me she'd contacted EF and begged to be a reviewer so she could "get stuff" then she told me she wasn't going to actually review any of it! I was highly pissed and she said that she'd told EF that I referred her!
Anyways, after the 2nd copied work, I done what I promised. I called her out publicly and posted her URL. She took that crap down in an instance and then re-done her entire 3 blog post. Guess what? 2 of her posts were about me and the other post was a list of her pets! It worked. She finally took off the copied material! I never resort to confrontation. I don't like it. I am the type that will let myself be ran over before I will stand up for myself, but I've gotten better lately.
You as well as the rest of us work HARD on reviews! It's not just an easy paragraph. To write a good, accurate and useful review, you have to examine everything an item does and doesn't do then you have to put it in words. It takes a lot of time and you do not deserve to be copied. I think I'd confront them if they did it more than once. Most will be humiliated when found out about and are likely to stop. One reason why I believe in confronting someone who copied your work is #1 I'm a writer, I take that plagiarism SERIOUSLY! #2. It's YOUR hard work and someone is pretty much screwing EF over. They're just getting a free toy and your actually writing the review for them! #3. Confronting them can stop them from continuing and doing it to others.
You can simply ask kindly that they do their own work. Explain what plagiarism is, tell them you worked hard and you don't appreciate them STEALING! Plaigiarism is so under reported and left without any consequences and that's why people don't bother doing their own work. After all, who's going to stand up and say something? They're being dishonest, unethical and they are truly stealing.
It's extremely stressful and upsetting when this happens and I think the no-consequences is why people don't care to do it. They won't be reported, called out, or even be held accountable. WTF!? They should be. People who are copying other's reviews over and over are going to KEEP on doing it and just getting to sit back and get a free ride... and a free toy! They have no work to put in. You know, I'm very shocked at how little the consequences are for plagiarism here. I expected EF to take it just as seriously as any site.
YOUR REVIEWS ARE YOUR PUBLISHED WORKS. THEY ARE CONSIDERED PUBLISHED AND IT IS ACTUALLY A VERY SERIOUS CRIME. There's plenty you can do about it. You can always go outside the site and get help if it gets worse or even bothers you. You don't have to pay to get something done, you don't have to go get an attorney. It's very simple. I've recently learned these things in my situation with being stalked. I'm glad I had something done about the stalker. I'm glad things will be taken further than just "please stop." If not, what else would she have done? She followed my family and I around town. I mean people who plagiarise EVERYTHING they write are often the type to watch out for. Cyber-stalking can be just as scary too and we need to protect our work and selves.
Letting someone get away with it is only letting them think they can do it to every person. You may not care, but the next person just might.

Ew! That sucks big time! They just get off easy and copy your words, but change just enough to get by without being banned. Man, I just hate this so much. It's so hurtful to do. I wish plagiarism laws were even stricter. Apparently they need to be. I just cannot understand how a person can have absolutely no respect or morals what so ever. You'd have to be just freakin' ignorant to do that. If you can't write your own reviews without looking at other reviews first then you do not need to be doing them. People who can't write their own shouldn't even deserve to be a part of EF. I understand with toys things will be similar, but I can tell big time when someone's copied. I've taken classes about detecting carefully copied work and it's served me well!

I doubt anyone has copied mine, any part of them. But I would be quite upset also. I really dont think someone thats just going to copy others has any place in the program, they arent helping anyone just copying info.

I have recently come across someone that both of their reviews are copied and pasted off of another reviewers. I have forwarded this information to the Eden Gods.
06/23/2011
I don't think anyone has copied any of my reviews. It would be pretty stupid to copy reviews from Eden and then post them on Eden. If I found out someone did copy from my reviews I'd be upset because I stress myself out about them (even though there's only 4). I think anyone would be upset, it's like they are stealing your time and effort.

I don't know if any of my reviews have been copied as I don't tend to read a ton of reviews on items I've reviewed. (My thinking is "I already have to toy, I already know if I like/don't like it") Now if a reviewer I admire and respect writes a review on something that I've reviewed, I'll likely read it, but they're likely not going to be copying my review.
06/23/2011
The one that I caught was a good review but then the experience was poorly worded and did not fit with the rest of the review. The more I thought about it the more it bothered me. I looked at the three reviews they had and compared them to the other reviews that people have done and all of them were copied word for word off of other peoples reviews...grrrr. JR took care of it
06/23/2011
As far as I know it's never happened to me, but I'd be sooooo angry if it did.
07/04/2011
I'm not sure if that has ever happened to my reviews, but yes, I'll be pissed if it did. Sometimes, I do notice similar use of words, but it's probably coincidental since the reviews were about the same toy.

I have only written about 12 reviews, so it has not happened yet, but I agree that it would really irritate me if it happened. Copying other people's work is not appropriate.

I am so sad, I read this thread a few weeks ago, when I was bored one day and upon doing my regular commenting of the day I found someone copied my review. Posted as a different product, but plagiarized my review. It makes me really sad.
What super upsets me is that the person used it for a review of an assigned free product.

I would be seriously upset if my reviews were copied. As with the rest of us, I work very hard on my reviews and put a lot of time into them. I have read your reviews and see that you put a great deal of time and thought into presenting and writing them, and while some say copying is a form of flattery, I say it is an insult to the person that wrote the original!!Please turn them in and help reduce the abuse to Eden's, these people are also earning points from a copy/paste job without taking the time to do an actual review.
08/17/2011
You would think with the entire educational system as well as work force focusing on how BAD plagiarism is and how you should NEVER EVER do it that people would of learned by now to be more original. That's terrible. I am so sorry to hear someone did that and I hope that that they get taken care of.

And as for someone having copied your reviews, that is such a sad, terrible thing. Reviewers (those of us who don't copy) pour our hearts into those reviews, trying to make them the best that they can be! So for someone to take what we have worked so hard to do, and try to make it their own? Terrible! I hope that is one report I will never have to make!

I think it was yesterday or the day before I saw the SecretToyLover had a review plagarized. I wasn't sure how to handle it - I downvoted it and mentioned in the comment section that it was copied.
Within an hour - the review was gone and within a couple of hours - all of that person's reviews were gone. I'm guessing they were banned?
Its nice to know now how to handle this.

That's crazy! I think I'd totally turn them in for that!
11/09/2011
When I'm doing a review, since I'm still fairly new at it, I usually have a very well rated review open in another tab to reference so that I can make sure I include all the major points I need to cover. The prompting questions on the review page are good, but sometimes they just don't cover everything, so I like to have something to reference. The only things I have ever copied and pasted exactly were standard things like ingredients lists (after double checking to make sure it was right), lists of functions, or things like that. But how I describe them, and things like that are all in my own words, and from my own experiences.
11/13/2011
I'm sorry that happened to you (and the other people that said they were copied too)....it's so messed up!
Yeah like Mraheatherreese says I looked at a good review before writing mine to make sure I am hitting key elements. For the review I wrote I used the "standard" template but I noticed in the extended template they have examples so I'm going to just use that next time. I would never copy someones work, that's just stealing...not to mention pathetic.
It's absolutely crazy that people copy reviews...and even crazier that they think nobody will notice. I hope they had their reviews taken down.

I've read a couple of reviews that were very close to mine or to other reviews on the site. A few that were exact were turned in to the Administration, but the few I found of mine was just different enough to have a shadow of a doubt it was actually copied.
It always makes me wonder when someone submits two or three 3 paragraph reviews in text speak, then turns in a fully functional, understandable review with "big words" in it, and I always wonder "Where did this come from?" A really fast learner? Hmmmm.

Not sure it's happened. I look at other reviews as a guideline to see what i need to include in my own review, but I always make sure to put it in my own words and of course, add my own experiences. I mean how can I not put my own experiences as that's the only experience I have?
12/13/2011
Can't you get banned for that?

I would not know if someone has copied my work. I have never done this, I may look at the other reviews before I submit mine, to check and see if I forgot anything, but never copied anyone's.
