When there is en editor to rank on a review I rate the editor accordingly and try to rate the reviewer on content alone. However when there is no editor I'm not sure how to rate a review where the errors in spelling are so numerous that I feel it takes away from the readability of the review.
What are your thoughts and practices? I don't want to be unfair.

Sometimes I do, if it's hard to actually even read. A few mistakes won't affect how I vote. However, if there was an editor on a review that has errors (2 or more is not acceptable in my opinion, not if the same editor NEVER publishes a review that error-free) then I will vote them poorly. DO NOT BECOME AN EDITOR IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO EDIT. I mean all you're doing is point farming, in reality.
Sorry. Thankfully, the editors now have to take a test, which I just completed happily the other day. While it'll be easy for people to "cheat" on the editor test, it will surely somewhat help narrow down those who don't know how to edit and give those of us who do, more of a chance to use our skills. I really don't think it looks good on an editor when they're published reviews are never free of errors. There are plenty of these out there too. It's also unfair to the person who done the review.
As for rating the reviewer, it would have to be unreadable in parts for me to vote based on some mistakes.
