I have been on this site for over a year now, and yes, I do everything from participate in the forums, to voting and writing my reviews and what not. However my rank is still a 5. I have no clue what else to do. Is there anyone else with this problem?

I see you did one recent review, but the others it has been months since those were published. It doesn't matter how long you have been a member, the rank depends on how active you are day to day and how people rate your reviews.

Also, you're in the median of ranks. Most people are roughly your rank. Your rank goes up quickly in the beginning, but then slows down. I've been 5.9 for a very long time, at least a year.

I think the ranking is very dependent on how your reviews are rated. Looking at your past reviews, it doesn't seem like you have been getting "extremely useful" as the majority rating in many of your reviews. I suggest working on them to make sure they are consistently getting top marks at this point.

Your ranking depends on the following :
- active in forum
- reviews you write and the votes you get for the review by contributors
- liking items on facebook
- adding things to wishlist/compare
- following other contributors
- commenting/voting on reviews
- video reviews
good luck!

Writing reviews (28%)
Writing follow-up reviews (4%)
Answering questions on your reviews (2%)
Posting comments on the reviews of other contributors (2%)
Creating new discussions (2%)
Making posts in discussions (2%)
Time in community (2%)
Review activity reflects the ratio between the number of your reviews relative to the average maximum of reviews between the top contributors. Verified reviews count exactly as much as unverified reviews. There are no limits on the number of reviews and follow-up reviews.
Only the past 360 days of activity is considered in Activity Factor.
Popularity Factor = 58%
Average review usefulness determined by votes (34%)
Average editorial vote (4%)
Number of comments on your reviews (9%)
Number of ratings on your reviews (9%)
Number of discussion posts from other contributors on the discussions created by you (2%)
We consider voting on your own reviews an inappropriate practice. The reviews should be evaluated by other people, not by the author of the review.
These factors are calculated daily, and in comparison to other reviewers (which is why your rating might change even if you haven't done anything).
There are several ways to boost your rating, like writing more reviews, follow-ups, commenting on others' reviews and posting on the forum.

I've been here about 6 weeks and my rank moved from 4.7 to 5.3 in that time. I feel like I'm pretty active here though. I post and comment a lot, probably too much. I was just pretty pleased that I moved from page 168 to page 48 in the contributor ranking in that short amount of time.
Be more active, it shows that you've only posted a few dozen times in community and that does play a factor in ranking.

That being said, the higher your rank is, the harder it is to get it to move up.
