Hmm.. I was wondering if you've ever had your rank drop inexplicably? Today, after publishing a new review, my rank raised from 6.1 to 6.2! I was all "Schweet!". Then I came home later tonight to find that my rank is once again a 6.1! What's going on here? Did someone randomly rate all my reviews "not useful at all" without me noticing? Could someone please explain this to me? I think I'm missing something.
Rank Dropped Inexplicably?

How long have you been around? A few months ago I was a good .5 higher than I am now, but I realized its because I did a small press of reviews about a year ago, and the rank is all based on stuff in the last year. Otherwise, your rank somehow relate to what everyone else's rank/activity, so small changes like that happen from time to time. I think, anyways.

I've noticed a lot of weird rank stuff recently. I have also noticed the down and up .1 lately too. Mine usually goes back up and levels out if I keep being active in the following days after it drops.
I think this is just due to the huge fluctuation is everyone else's activity daily. You are rated against everyone else, top and bottom. This is so that the top reviewer can never get to 10. Make sense?
Also the huge drop like .3+ in some long time reviewers is due to them being less active now than they were a year ago. The rating are based on the last 365 days only, so it changes EVERY day.
Good news: I really don't think anyone went and downrated you

I've only been here maybe 3 months? Not long enough for the 365 day rule to apply. Ah, I see. I was just curious because I'd never had my rank go down like that before. It was also a bit weird since my rank had JUST gone up.

Haha, well thank you for being so informative. That makes a bit more sense now. Glad to get a definitive answer to this.

I've watched a couple people fluctuate .1 up and down and up in a day. It's weird, but I've noticed it a few times in the past six months or so.

I suppose because everything is on a sliding scale it's possible to up/down a bit. I agree with Lauren, actually. A bit of extra activity will often give you the boost you need to stay up.

Daily activity isn't really enough to rocket a person up in ranking, but it is useful to maintain a rank. A .1 drop/raise could be as simple as computation based on all the variables.
It can be a little nerve wracking at times, especially when it comes to the rank to price changes. Give it a few days/weeks and you should be pretty solid in the new ranking to not drop too far.

The other thing to keep in mind is that your rank is relative to the rank of others and if there is a good bit of activity among those just below you or maybe just above you, your rank may adjust accordingly.

I'm new to EF and noticed myself that I went from a 5.3 to a 4.8 in less than 24 hours. I wondered about this as well, especially since I did several reviews and was pretty active. I've leveled out again at a 5.4, but I'm still pretty confused about it.

I've noticed the same thing happening with mine, and it usually happens right after it's gone up to the next .1, within hours sometimes it's back down. Like others have said it usually ends up levelling off but yea, the first time it happened I was wondering if I had suddenly gotten some bad ratings or something!

Here's the breakdown for the formula on ranking.
I hope it helps answer some questions. If you need to look it up, it's under the Review section under Account at the top-left of your screen.

As soon as you post a review, you jump up a rating. It's because there's a large gap between the number of members who have no review and those who have posted one.

I'm pretty sure my rank dropped I think i was a 5. something but now I'm just a five....
Why did that happen? I haven't been active for about a month due to school so is that maybe one of the reasons?

My review hasn't changed in a while, even though I've been active; I just put it down to everyone else around me being just as active as am I (go on vacation, y'all, I wanna move on up! ). Every once in a while I bounce up or down by .1 or so, but it usually levels out by the next day.

I have the same issue, .1 is no big deal, I hope I get it back tho.
