Surprise Me assignments – forum batch 5 – first come, first served.

We’re back to mixed batches – this one's a bunch from all kinds of manufacturers.

These assignments are *not* Description Reviews; they are regular verified reviews (just like if you’d requested the item). So write a ‘regular’ review of the item.

But...Do not even think about requesting one of the Surprise Me assignments until you read this:

These are Assigned reviews (meaning verified). This also means they can only be assigned to Advanced Level contributors. FOR SURPRISE ME ASSIGNMENTS ONLY, there is no waiting period, they do not count towards your 30 days and you can do more than one Surprise Me assignment a month.

That does *Not* mean that you should ask for 2 assignments in the same day, from the same batch or even the same week, just accept the assignments that you can handle and complete them in a fair turn-around time. I will notice

These are still assigned/verified reviews, so you will not be able to request an assignment if you have 2 or more outstanding assignments that are waiting to have reviews written.

The products will be assigned for onsite reviews but it’s ok to continue the review on your blog with pics, video and additional commentary; however, the onsite review must be a complete review. There will be a little message underneath saying “This review was sponsored by [toy company name here]. However, no editorial content was compromised.”

Ok...all that being said…all prerequisite info shared...now to the how-are-we-doing-this thing info: Different. Differently. That’s how!

I am listing 10 awesome products and toys below. TEN. And guess what, it’s first come, first served. So, if you think you might want to try one of these products, you reply to the thread and say “I want that buzzy clanger, thks” – make sure you put the name and the number of the one you’d like assigned to you. * Seriously, put the name of the toy in your post! And make sure no one else has already claimed it in the thread! *

I need you to be timely about accepting the assignments - within 24 hours of me assigning the toy to you, please. And only decline the product you requested with good reasoning.

If any products get requested then declined, I will post about the toy being available for dibs again.

Yeah I totally agree. I wasn't around for when Surprise Mes were being given in the old way. I was just upgraded not too long ago and for my tastes and given rank Surprise Me gives me a shot to do a review that hasn't been done yet.

On top of working 12 hour days I was lucky to get a toe in here! less

A few things in response to the conversation above:

We are an East Coast based company, and as much as we'd like to work "9 - 5", it usually works out to "9 - ?"...which is to your benefit, as we all work our butts off - but we have to stop at some point each day and remember to ya know eat and say hi to our families occasionally. Crazy, I know! Asking us to work around the clock to suit every timezone just is not feasible or fair.

There's no real way except the honor system to do specific timezone Surprise Me threads - does everyone in this community feel comfortable with the public knowing what region they live in? No. And a lot of the recent 'newbies' have been getting these assignments on the threads.

At least 3 of the Surprise Me threads were posted in the evening - well after 5pm EST...so I have been really flexible in making it more balanced. (btw, it's after 7pm right this moment)

What about people who work 2nd and 3rd shift all over the world? This logic can go on and on. Some people are sleeping during the day etc...so to them, 4 am would be more fair and so on.

Anyway - the point is - this is a privilege to begin with... the choices, the lack of restriction. No other company does it like this. We are literally handing out dozens of extra toys that do not count against your limit for other requests. That is beyond cool. Please don't make us feel like we're enabling greed and bickering.
