Well, my interactions with my mentor go kinda like this... I write up a first draft review, submit it to her, she sends it back to me with a few suggestions on how to make it better. I revise it, send it back to her, and if she finds nothing further that can be expounded on, corrected, or just plain made better, she publishes it.

Hey there, and welcome to the community! Here are a few threads that might help you out: what you should know about clubs, parties, and workshops, a master list of tutorials, and an information directory.

You don't need a mentor to start writing reviews, although it never hurts to have that extra set of eyes and that experienced perspective. As far as getting a mentor, pay attention to what you put in the box when you request the class. If you're accidentally coming off like a point farmer, that could be why your requests have been rejected. I would write out a little bit about you and what you hope to accomplish in a class with the mentor you're applying to.

Best of luck to you on your journey!
