What do you get out of being a mentor?

I'm new to the site, but my girlfriend really wants to be a mentor. I'm just curious as to what everyone else gets out of being a mentor. Not like points or anything, just like personally.

Well, sometimes headaches, but for the most part it's rewarding to know that you are helping others. You get to meet new people and pass along knowledge. It's wonderful sometimes.

Yup, this. You'll get some students that won't listen or improve and it's frustrating. However, you'll also get to meet some amazing reviewers and help them perfect their craft. It's really rewarding to see someone come from U or below reviews to EU ones with your help. Plus you make friends with new members of the community, which is fun.

While I can agree, it can be very challenging at times, it's far more rewarding than anything!

I love having a student come to me and watch them improve through each review we work on together. Sometimes the process is quick and improvement is obvious, but other times it takes a little more effort. Either way, it's rewarding to watch each student make steps toward becoming even better reviewers, and knowing that you were able to have a little hand in it.

It's especially awesome watching them branch off and do an amazing job without any assistance, I think that's the best feeling ever!

I'm pretty stoked to at some point become a mentor an get to help others with their reviews (I'll obviously make it a point to offer assistance with articles too, since I enjoy writing them)

My mentor also got a fanatical supporter out of the deal. lol

Yet another thing I so greatly appreciate about the program!

I'm still fairly new to the Mentor game, but not new to teaching. I love building people up and helping them feel confident in the work they do. Watching their reviews take shape, and helping them find the way they can best express themselves is pretty amazing. Also, getting people to add a bit more personal experience to their reviews and see that it's ok to share that here at Eden is neat, too!

I keep track of my students and I'm always proud to read over the reviews they write after my class....and see how they grow and change on their own as well.

I agree with the headache part! But I'm willing to wade through headaches to find an awesome student.

I like to let my students know not to be a stranger and just because they graduated it doesn't mean that they are done with me They know they can message me for anything for forever, really.

It's great helping students become familiar with the site and grow. I love how they improve on their own after as well.

I love knowing when I helped someone out

It's hard at times when the student gives you a list of items they're interested in reviewing 1 of, and then admin emails you with "all those have 3 + reviews or are out of stock", so I have to message students to pick another handful of items to get 1 approved. Most of the time, it's not a big deal but sometimes it gets frustrating.

I love being a mentor, and have helped a good 15 students with writing anywhere from 2 - 15 reviews before graduating them, depending on their preference, my time availability, as well as if they need to work on their writing skills more, or are ready to soar on their own with reviews.

I get a lot of thank you's for helping students, before they graduate. It's nice helping others as well as knowing you're appreciated for your hard work with helping critique reviews, and guide them on their reviewing journey here on Eden.
