Here is an FAQ on the Editor program. It should answer some of your questions.
Here is a short excerpt from the FAQ:
***************
How do I participate in the EdenTasks program?
To participate in the EdenTasks program, you must first activate the Review Program service, have a contributor rank of 5.1 or higher, and submit a request to participate.
What criteria are used to select editors? Why do editors only need a rank of 5.1 or higher to qualify but their reviews do not auto-publish until 5.5?
Many factors are taken into consideration to select editors including Contributor Rank, writing ability (reviews, blogs, etc.), community involvement, relevant writing/editing experience, and the application request itself. A ranking of 5.1 means the contributor is fairly active on the site but may not have the volume of reviews published to be at a higher level.
*******************
So while rank does play a part in becoming a proof reader, there is more involved. To become an editor you will need some more experience writing reviews and time being active on the forums, and other aspects of Eden.
Editors work on 3 month rotations. So there is only a chance to become an editor every 3 months when they are rotated. We are approximately half way through the current rotation.
As for getting followers, more people will follow you the longer you are here and the more active you are. Become a familiar, helpful face, and you're sure to start getting more followers!
I hope this helps answer some of your questions! Welcome to EdenFantasys!

As for how to "get more followers", this is different than Facebook or a blog. It seems to take a bit more to follow, and really you only want people to do it if they want to. I for one just follow whoever happens to follow me, just to be friendly. I like having my "friends" list, but I can't access them easily with the way it's set up, so in order to find them, I type in their profile name in the search bar. That is how I find them and communicate. So following may not be as helpful for keeping up with actually communicating with people. Not like FB where you see everyone you follow in one page and can click on any.
Anyways, I really don't know what you do to make people follow. I personally would think you just have to reach out and try and make friends. Perhaps introduce yourself somewhere on the forums. I think there's an area to do that, actually! Just go to the search bar above and type "I'm new here" and I think it should pull up the correct part of the forum. Then you could just do a brief discussion posting a bit about yourself.
I suggest doing that because that is how I befriended several people -- they posted a bit about themselves, introducing themselves on the forums and said they'd be interested in friends. So I befriended them Lol. That would probably be the best way to make friends, I mean, if you're wanting to make actual friends and not just followers.
No worries though. People get points every time they follow somebody, so a lot of people make an effort to follow new people daily just for the points. So rest assured, you will certainly have followers. I don't really go out of my way to follow others, but I do go out of my way to stop and message them and have nice conversations, and of course will follow back for friendliness, but many times the person never was even interested in friendship, just following for points.
Like I said, if you're looking for friends, people to communicate with and get to know, reach out. Get active on the forums. If you aren't interested in friends, but followers only, it'll happen.

Kendra and Indiglo really said it all. Following other people, writing good reviews and being active on the forums will help you with followers, good luck!

Thanks again Indiglo!
It takes time to build rank and the fastest way to do it is by writing reviews. The more reviews you write, the more followers you'll gain.
