Just Joined the Mentor Program as a Student...

Contributor: MeliPixie MeliPixie
Hi everyone! So, don't ask me what in the world possessed me to do this, but I just clicked the button and joined the program as a student. I know there's always room for improvement, and improving is something I'd like to do, don't get me wrong! But there are so many unknowns for me (surrounding this program) that I have no clue what I'm doing when I'm not just buying toys and reviewing them on my own. I have nine or ten reviews under my belt, and all of them receive mostly "Extremely Useful" votes with only a few lower votes to be seen. My reviews are extremely detailed and followed up in a timely manner.

I guess what I'm wondering are a couple of things I can't find the answers for:

Do I need to go through the Mentor Program at all?
What can I do to improve my reviews from their current state?
And (strangely I can't find this anywhere) Do I have to pay for the Mentor Program or the toy I will be asked to review? I'm always broke!

Any help anyone can offer me would be greatly appreciated. I would like this experience but I'm not sure it's for me!

If you feel like you could use more help, then definitely go through the mentor program. But if you feel like you've got a pretty good grip, then you're probably ok not to. I know people who have gone through just to get some extra help writing on specific things, like lingerie or DVDs. I confess I haven't had the time to read through your reviews yet to offer specific advice there, but I can tell you that you don't have to pay for the Mentor program. Some mentors will do a push assignment for you, but it can't be coupled with your regular free assignment. You can also do your regular free review each month, or if you got anything else that you bought, that can also go through the mentor program.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by my "regular free review each month." Am I supposed to be requesting a new free toy for review every month?! That sounds like a looot of work! O_o

Advanced reviewers can request a free assignment each month of different costs according to rank. You don't have to do it, but you can if you want to.

Oh! Hah, I was so confused. I thought she meant a required monthly review assignment for the mentor program! I knew about this already apparently. I'm just a little thick something ^^;; thanks for clearing it up!

No problem I wonder, when you have some free time, would you check out my reviews and see if there even is any need for me to be in the Mentor Program? I mean. That sounds conceited. What I mean is, if there is any room for improvement, if you would tell me where it is? Or if there are some things I could review that you think I or my boyfriend might enjoy, and would be good to put me through the program for? I'm always looking for ways to improve my reviews and my readers' knowledge.

I think regardless everyone should go through the mentor program, you never know what youll pick up. Ive gone through it twice and learned new things each time. A lot of people go through it more than once, even as great reviewers already. With a good mentor youll be surprised what you can learn.
