How do I drop a student with an outstanding assignment?

Contributor: sexyintexas sexyintexas
I have a student that recieved an assignment. She has a review draft that is not done yet and I cannot get in contact with her. I have sent her repeated messages to get in contact with me and I sent her a message saying that if she didn't contact me that I would have to drop her as there are other people that are looking for mentors. I am guessing that since there is a review in draft is the reason I don't have an option to drop her as a student. How do I do this?

You should still be able to either cancel the class or fail the student if they have published at least 2 reviews with you. I had the same situation happen. I sent a review back with comments and never heard from the reviewer again despite multiple messages. If you don't see the buttons, you may have to submit a support ticket.

If they're just not responding, there's not much you can do. While you ending the class will affect her ability to ever publish that draft, chances are good that if she's not getting back in touch with you, she probably won't be doing anything with that draft. It being there shouldn't affect your ability to end the class though, but a support ticket should be able to help you further if it's not working properly right now.

I forgot to add that having an absentee student does not limit you. You are limited on how many you can accept in a 30 period. So technically there's no harm in keeping them as a student indefinitely.

You can always send them one more private message that 1) explains that you are canceling the class and 2) contains the contents of her draft in case she does decide to finish the review. That way if she does come back to Eden after the absence, the review isn't entirely lost.

Okat thanks everyone. There is no option to graduate or fail. She hasn't given me any reviews and she accidently sent me the one that is unfinished. I will hold onto her for a little longer and hope that she responds to the messages that I have sent her.

If a student has a pending review while their class ends for whatever reason, it'll never be a full review. We have to have Tech decline/delete the draft. They can copy/paste their draft into a new review though.

Just something to be aware of.
