I need a mentor who will actually help me. Anyone have a mentor who is great and sticks to their word? My last one never helped me.. or gave me assignments.

Usually you have to pick out your own assignments to start. Try someone whose reviews you like and ask them if they'd be interested.

Why don't you write a few reviews of items you have tried before? Almost everyone has used KY, Condoms, or other lubes etc. You can earn points, while finding a mentor. FWIW, there are not lots of items for review currently, if you are just waiting for an assignment. IF you want to get your rank moving, I suggest writing a few reviews. I never got a push assignment, when I was a student. I just wrote my own reviews for toys I already bought.

It's hard to find student assignments! I have a wishlist of some things that qualify, but even then it's like a 1 in 5 chance that one will go through. I've found that sometimes the admins will have some things they need to push for review anyways and they can assign those if you ask, but they're not usually very exciting. It's tough!
Best of luck finding a mentor! I recommend looking for someone active on the forums who seems friendly.

I'd contact a few editors before requesting them, to see if they'd seem to be a good match. It's also a good idea to make a list of products you're interested in that meet the criteria (under $30 and less than 3 reviews) so that your mentor can request one for you.

As a mentor, I do find it very difficult sometimes to find items for my students to review. Luckily, i have some wonderful students who will grab their own items from their points or just purchase items while we wait. This helps to get them going on reviews and possibly graduated sooner--if they are ready.
I am not going to have an opening for awhile, the 38th I think--my next class is reserved by someone I just had to turn down since they were the second applicant in line. You could spend the time messaging some mentors to find one who would work for you. Good luck, I look forward to seeing you around the site and if you have any questions feel free to message me as well.
