Editing a Student's Review in the Mentor Program?

Contributor: Antipova Antipova
Hi all,

Sorry if this is a very obvious question, but I'm working on my very first review with my very first student.

She's doing a great job, and we've been corresponding about the big-picture changes to the review using the comments section below the review (as viewed from my perspective as a mentor).

She sent it to me this morning and I think it's ready to publish, except for a little typo. (teh instead of the). I can't find a button to let me edit this typo for her, so I had to send the whole review back just for a little hangup. Is there a "mentor-editing" mode that my unpracticed eye can't find, or is this just the way the layout works?

I'm happy to do either way, but wanted to see if I could have just published it for her this morning.

Thanks for your help!

You should be able to go in and edit any of the text in the review. When the student submits her review to you, each of the text boxes should have an "Edit" and "Save" button under it, just like when you do a review yourself I usually go in, make the simple spelling and grammar errors (with explanations if it's a repeat mistake) and put my comments in brackets, [[like this]] so they're easy to find. Then I save everything and click "Submit back to student", beneath the review but above the comment box.

I've had a few problems with the mentor program lately, though...Recently, a student submitted a review to me and I couldn't edit at all. Its status still said "Revisions required". She submitted it again and it worked. I also had a student submit a revision that I never even got to see because the program automatically didn't pass her! Poor thing worked so hard and then got a message about not graduating!

I submitted a support ticket but haven't heard back yet. Maybe you should try that also, if the program's not working as it should!

I've had problems with students submitting reviews back to me but me not being able to edit them and it turns out that for me it was because I was accessing it through an email that let me know they had commented on the review, instead of the one that said they sent it back. I'm not sure how you had been accessing them tho, whether it was through email or directly thru the site.

Oh hey! This worked.

Before, I could only see the review in "preview" mode, but now that I accessed it from the email that says she sent it back, I see the editing boxes. It would be nice if the "preview" mode had a button to let us edit (the same as our own reviews), but as long as I know how to workaround that now, everything should be great.

Thanks guys!

It would indeed be super awesome, lol.

Glad it worked!

Also, make sure they don't have any hanging reviews before you graduate them. If there are any incomplete reviews when you graduate them, they won't be able to publish with Tech's support.

Thanks for the warning in advance I'll be sure not to make that mistake.

you need to ask the student if it's okay if you edit it since it's something small, or just make a comment of what needs re-done/correct spelling before you can publish it
