Accepting 1 student right now!

Contributor: mama2007 mama2007
I had a student who I waited over 2 1/2 weeks on to send me the review that I never received (it was a draft with no writing for that time), I checked back daily and no reply even after I asked about it several times, so I had to drop her as my student because the review was past due and she either forgot or didn't want to do it.

So, with that said if anyone knows of a student who needs a mentor let him or her know I'm available. Thanks! Please get your reviews in on time Have fun reviewing/mentoring!

At least you have had one student, I haven't even had that. I honestly can't think of any way to get students to sign up for classes..

Hm, i'm not sure. Make it so you're accepting students and then hope they stay put; i've had 4 leave for no reason. 1 was my mistake on how I thought I was suppose to "edit" the review. I KNOW now how to do so, with being task editor. I hope you find someone soon too!

Thanks , hope you get one as well. What was the mistake if I may ask, so I don't do the same when I have a student?

I had edited the review myself (dummy me wasn't thinking) and published it. i felt terrible and then got a rude message back, and i apologized but couldn't undo the publishing to send it back to the student, so I lost that one. NOW i know that you write in the commenting area below their review they want help with, and you put what changes you think need done to make it a good review, and then send it back to student for changes (just like with editing with task editors), and then once they revise it with the changes, let them know you're going to approve/publish it and they did a good job.

ahh, that makes sense. I am waiting to hear about the task editor group that I think should be coming open again soon. It would give me some experience with other people's reviews.

Yeah I got accepted into the Editor's program a few months ago and love it, plus you get 50, 250 or 400 points depending on the review you're helping to edit. it's great. I got $18 worth of point in a day 1/2 time from editing, because the person was online and made quick changes and sent it back for approval.

It helps with knowing grammar and punctuation and spelling too, along with NOT using smileys. that's a big thing with me i don't like to see.

Aaah, I love this thread because it explains HOW to mentor rather than how to GET to mentor. Thanks!

oh i'm glad I'm helping. I figured this stuff out by learning =] and i've helped edit/proofread like 7 reviews, so i've had practice, along with the 82 reviews i have done myself, some assigned and 1/2 are just products I had in my orders. I do reviews on everything I get on EF.

You're welcome
