How many reviews do we have in the task market right now, out of curiosity? Has anyone counted?

There's about 250 there right now including some problem ones. I think during the middle of last week the backlog was 220.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch!

And there are several more that will be unpublishable in that whole group too. I feel we should all be checking the bottom of reviews first for notes from previous editors!

Definitely! That should be the first thing an editor does after opening a review. Check the title to see if there is a "Do not publish," then scroll down to see if there are any notes from other editors.

Now, there are situations were I have seen editors leave comments, stating that they did not publish the review because they found it to be too much work. Perhaps, for instance, the information on material was accidentally pasted into the section on design, or something like that. Do you all still avoid publishing those reviews? I saw one like this the other night, and I simply left it was I was not sure what to do -- but a part of me was very tempted to e-mail the author and ask them to either move the information into the proper spots, or to ask their permission to move the information for them.

It's 'defiantly' the first thing I check for (sorry, I'm just seeing a lot of that in place of 'definitely' lately)

But as Ms N herself has said (and I totally agree) there is a certain type of reviewer who just wants the points and has no interest in improving their reviews. I've returned a few over the last couple of weeks that just get no reply and no attempt to improve/add to what was submitted in the first place.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I still don't think problems like that will change until reviewers get their 1000 points AFTER reviews have been edited and published.

PassionCpl, I agree with this. As much as people hate waiting to get their points, I do think that it ought to be set up like SexIs is, with writers not getting their points until the reviews have been live on the site for 5 days.

Excellent point - if it can be done there, then why not with product reviews? It doesn't even have to be across the board - maybe the instant points can be reserved for a 5.5 rank and above to tie in with self-editing.

It might not be perfect, but it would certainly help to keep a lower-ranking reviewer interested enough to keep fine-tuning their reviews.

In that case, I would look to see why it was felt to be too much work.

If it was a simple case of copy/paste into a section where it shouldn't be in an extended review, and the relevant information was also there, then I would probably delete the extra and publish. If, on the other hand, the same information was copy/pasted in a review just to give it enough words to be published (I have seen this), or in multiple places where it shouldn't be (seen this too), then I would not publish it.

If it is sent on to the admin (in this case, Stormy), they will talk to the reviewer if they feel it is a salvageable situation, and not a case of someone being after points. Otherwise, we risk sending it back to the reviewer, and it just staying there, taking up space in the TM because the person never comes back to fix it. We have a few of those in the TM right now.

Agreed. It would be a totally win-win situation all around...well, except for the points farmers.

Re: Submit to Administrator: Just a reminder to editors old and new, since I'm seeing mentions of sending reviews on to admin - the "Submit to Administrator" feature is not working. If you try to use it, it locks the review in the Pit of Doom and it can't be accessed. Instead, send a message to Stormy with the appropriate information (which I think is the review #, the author, and all the specific information you have about the reason for sending it to her, including sources if it's a plagiarism), and put a "Do Not Publish" note in the review title.

I think all reviews should be worth the same number of points. Which template was chosen by the reviewer is not a good predictor of the time and effort needed to proofread a given review, in my experience. If a reviewer gets 1000 points, my vote would be that roughly 1/3 of that is a reasonable number for the editor to receive, 325 or 350 points.

I have been surprised that the backlog hasn't cleared up more quickly, even with editors being added. As was previously mentioned, I think the daily volume must continue to be strong. Well, fellow editors, let's clear them up, and - Have fun stormin' da castle!

Absolutely, admin = PM Stormy. Thanks for the reminder.

Well, it seems the problem is that of the 21 people originally chosen by Sammi for this rotation, only 8 of us are working right now. I have seen 12 more whom Stormy has added, and that brings us back up to 20. 20 x 3 = 60. It would work, and we could finish the backlog in four days...if no one else posted any more reviews for the next four days.

I know that Stormy said that the system would need to be changed a bit in order to enable us to edit more reviews, but I think that's probably what needs to happen here.

I'll try to stick more closely to the older reviews until we make a significant dent. We'll get there, fellow editors!

ROTFL @ "defiantly"

Nearly every review I've seen this week has this error.

Wow, when I edited you were lucky to get your 3/day and had to catch them within minutes of submission or they got snatched up.

Yeah, this is an odd situation to be in, for sure. My last rotation was like what you described; you had to be quick or get none.

It was like that until the 2000 points bonanza when everyone and his dog started writing reviews for disposable cock rings, Eden Wipes and bits of fluff they found in their pockets for an easy $20.

Ms.N - you've been amazing on this thread and thank you for starting it. I sent a little gift your way.

Testing: No, I did not have time to go through the test and get everyone set up in that regard, mainly because I couldn't afford to wait for people to return them to me and then score them as Ms.N guessed in an earlier comment.

The people who were chosen out of the volunteers are people I'm familiar with when it comes to their review skills and the comments they leave on the forum. I also know who was an editor and who wasn't in the previous rounds.

(There's not much going on around here that I don't know about.)

I haven't decided how I'm going to deal with the next round of editors, I'm sure it will be very similar as to how Sammi did it.
