I have a lingerie set from Escante. Its a red and black mesh shelf bra and garter set that I have had two weeks now. I have tried writing it a few times now but I always feel like I forget things. I have read tons of reviews but they are all different since women like things to fit differently and women are all different shapes. How do you write your reviews? What are the key things you think should be in a review? Do you measure everything and how do I know how things should fit? Incase you were wondering I am new to lingerie. Mostly only own bra and panty sets with a few hoses.
Writing lingerie reviews...

I want that set SO bad!
Anyway, I measure everything. I'm no good at redone size charts. Lauren is really great at that, so you might want to go through some of her lingerie reviews for ideas on how to do that.
I generally focus on how it fit me and include all my measurements. I write about how the material feels since. I include photos of all the detailing on the piece as well as a sentence or two explaining said detailing. I discuss the quality of the piece and any quality issues that I found.
I try to include who I think it will fit, but since I honestly am really terrible at that I keep it to a minimum. I'd hate to say "will look great on XYZ" and then it looks terrible on someone. So I know I can safely say "if you're shaped like me it will look ___" so I tend to do that. I also can say "if your cup size is one size above or below me, this should fit good/bad."

That is a cute set! The things I would most want to know are about the fit - What size did you get? Is it the size you would normally choose? How did it work out for you?
I would also want to know about the material. Is the quality good? Did it look like the pictures? Is it comfortable?
Hope that helps!

I saw her review of a gartered panty set and I was blown away at the details she included. I was also baffled at all the numbers she had listed lol. I'm gonna go back and take some notes. I have to have my partner measure me since its been so long since I did it. But I have to go read your lingerie reviews. I loved your Uma review so much!

I'm gonna try my hand at redoing a size chart but if all fails I will just go with using my measurements.

I would encourage you if you're going to be doing more than one lingerie review - to get a mentor for it. Although I was already an advanced reviewer and had gone through the mentor process with someone else - I asked Sam to mentor me specifically for lingerie so that I could feel more comfortable doing them.
I'd pick a mentor whose lingerie reviews you enjoy reading.

Reading thru a few reviews I'm not too off when it comes to details. There are a few things I missed. I'm so excited to finish this and see what everyone thinks. Hopefully this one won't be as bad as my first review.

I'd love to be your mentor for lingerie reviews in the future, if you're interested just send me a message.
As for my own lingerie reviews, I try to cover the sizing: my measurements and how it fits me, and who I think it'll fit; measurements of the piece so it can be compared to stuff the reader already owns, a breakdown of what comes in the set, what I think of the quality, and some pictures of me in it if I can. You don't have to go over the top with a completely redone sizing chart if you don't want to. I never feel confident enough in picking sizes, so I stick with listing measurements of the pieces so that they can be compared to items somebody already owns. To me, that's better than speculating on what sizes something may fit when I don't have concrete evidence to back up what I'm thinking.

As someone who doesn't wear women's lingerie (no proof!). If I were to buy it for a sig. other, the biggest help for me would be pictures. You don't have to show your face, just "This is what it looks like on me. I'm a 32x40x32. This is a 32x40x32, but really fits like a..."

I haven't written any lingerie reviews yet, but I do know what I like to see in them; measurements, measurements, measurements! I also love to hear about boning, and if it's plastic or metal, about how sturdy an item is, about how far stockings can stretch and what size leg they can fit. I like hearing about how things hold breasts and if it's comfortable for long-term wear, and I like actual pictures from different angles to show what it looks like better than the product pictures ( which are often misleading ).
Just my two cents!

I felt the same way you do. I joined Eden in August but sat around for four months, afraid to do a review for fear it would be inadequate. When I got the sequin waist cincher, it was hanging on my wall and I had a sudden urge to review it because it fit me horribly until I adjusted the laces up a few rows, and it occurred to me that doing such a thing may not occur to someone else, and that might be very useful knowledge to pass along, so I jumped headfirst into my reviews (I've just submitted my fourth. Don't know when it will be up.)
Anyway, if you take a bunch of pictures (even if you don't post them), they'll give you ideas for the content of your review.

I will measure everything! I didn't think about what size my thighs were for the hose but I'm adding that to the list. As well as high high that can go. Product pics can be misleading and I have been left with things I didn't like because of it. Thanks for the advice!

I see a lot of great comments here already, but I will copy what I wrote for someone earlier.
I have my own template that I have come up with and I suggest you do the same, it helps to stay organized, like the extended template!
My template is broken down as such:
What is it and how functional is it?
This includes what the piece is and if it can be worn for more than just lingerie and I include what are your options for ordering it: sizes, colors.
Material and care
This is were you talk about what the material is and how the tag recommends to wash it. You will want to describe the material and compare it to anything you can think of.
Design
Start from one end of the piece and work to the other. Describe it like there are no product images at all and we know nothing about it. Include everything you with is useful
Sizing
Talk about your measurements:Bust, Waist, Hips, Cups, Weight range, Height, and anything else that is important to the piece. For example sometimes is is relevant to measure under bust to hips and so on, which will depend on the piece.
Then compare your size to the size chart and say how accurate you found it to be.
Overall
This is my overall feeling and describing why I gave it the amount of stars I did.
Picture
optional if you want or not, but they are helpful and encouraged.
I hope this helps.
Any questions about this feel free to message me, I am available most of the time and I usually get all Extremely useful ratings on my lingerie reviews.

I want to add something here that I think would be a help. I think it would help if you're showing pictures of you in the item - if you could also give your torso length. For instance - my torso from shoulders to hips is almost 19". A chemise will fit you differently for length, etc. if your torso is say 15"....but you'd never know that if you didn't know my torso length.
Just my .02
Just my .02
12/31/2011
I don't bother about putting my measurements - for one, I don't want to give away how big I am in inches. But two, because the chance of anyone being the exact same shape and measurements as me who is interested in the items I review are extremely slim. In that case, my measurements mean nothing to others. I don't go by others measurements when I'm looking at pieces. I'd much rather read how much the item will stretch so I can judge for MY body shape and size!
So I prefer to give measurements of unstretched and stretched so eveyone can determind for themselves then whether they will be able to fit that size.
I have put some pictures, but have just finished working on something to help model all the pieces I review - until I lose enough weight.

I LOVE buying lingerie. Especially from Eden Fantasy because they have a great selection in plus size. I usually wear my lingerie a few times before I write my review. I tend to write things down that I like and don't like when I wear them.
