What if I want to Wait to Go Advanced?

Contributor: LQ LQ
I've written my first couple of reviews & now have the option to request a bump to advanced reviewer. However, I think I'd like to spend a little more time working on my own. I think I'm good with the basics, but I just feel like I could be a little smoother. And I want to incorporate some suggestions I've picked up on the forums & all.

I was just wondering if my waiting causes extra work for the editors. I don't want to do that if it can be helped. Or does the auto-publishing at 5.5 rank kick in even if you're not advanced, so they aren't having to go through all your submissions?

Also, can advanced reviewers keep on reviewing their own toys if they wish or do they have to do only assignment thingies?

P.S. Other random question... Does the code that works on forums for italics and such also work in reviews?

Your waiting won't cause any extra work for the editors. If the auto-publishing kicks in at 5.5, then it kicks in at 5.5, regardless of level. Anybody can review anything they've purchased, so you don't have to only do assignments, although there are advanced reviewers who prefer to only do assignments. And the forum coding sure does work in reviews, but only in the body and experience sections. The title/pros/cons/summar y don't support the formatting.

So there's absolutely nothing wrong with waiting until you feel you're ready to apply for an upgrade, and nothing wrong with trying to better your reviews at any point

Sam answered all your questions, but I just wanted to say that I really respect the fact that you want to wait until your reviews are more polished before you send in an upgrade request! I think that's fantastic, and I wish more people would have your attitude.

Also, remember if you want to get some specific pointers and tips on your reviews, you can always sign up for the Mentor Program.
