Weird question: do you spell it “gangbang” or “gang bang”.

Ok I know this a weird question, but I never the less felt the need to ask it, become I’m both weird and obsessed with group sex like that. Do you spell it “gangbang” one word; or gang bang , two words.

Can the grammar, linguistic, whatever specialty this falls under nerds on here tell me if is one way superior to the other. Does it make any ultimate difference if it written as two words or a compound word? I’ve seen it both ways and both in reviews and porno and now I’m curious.

To answer my own question i spell it two word because the spell check says one word is wrong

I feel like I'm probably in the same camp, haha. I have a tendency to put words together so I think I'd spell it as one word initially but might revise it to two

I like to hyphenate it: gang-bang. Doesn't set off any spell-checks, doesn't look like awkward phrasing as "gang bang", doesn't look like a WRONG compound word as "gangbang"...

I spell it usually gangbang but spell check always changes it for some reason.

I can't say I've ever spelled it, personally, but it just looks more natural to me as one word. And yes, that is an unusual question.

I think it looks more vernacularish as two words, like you're comfortable just throwing the term around in porn genres.

Just illustrate the place where this question is coming from see the wikepida page for "gang bang": link . At it redirects from "gangbang" and the intro uses "gang bang" two words, unless citing a title, however the rest of the article uses "gangbang" which is inconsistent.

Also that all the tiles are written as one word make me wonder if illustrators find one word prettier and use it more often, while writers find two word preferable. Speaking of which I wonder if stuff like twitter will make one word more popular just to save space in texts... and yes I am totally over thinking the spelling of "gang bang"

I spell it as two words but never really thought about it. I think either would be acceptable. Not a concept I had to think about when I was an English major in college, long ago.
