Mostly, I won't spend my money or gift cards on most stuff, but I may accept some low stuff on a whim especially if it a push assignment.
So, has becoming a reviewer turned you into a sex toy snob?
04/27/2012
Yes. I still have things of lower quality that I've bought in that past and never reviewed. I should review them, but I know I'm not going to like them. Well, I shouldn't say that. They might surprise me. Still, I lust over things I can't afford but I know are really high quality.

I didn't put much thought into anything because I started to really be educated about toys. I just knew what felt good and what didn't as a look towards investing my first nicer toy I have gone over so many things my head is spinning. If only Eden had stores we could all go into that were like their online environment.

I'm not a reviewer, but I think since I've joined Eden, I am very picky. Especially when it comes to materials.

Now that I've joined this site, I look at it and see a humongous, loud, clunky, and overall unsatisfying toy.
This site is like falling down the rabbit hole of sex toys, and personally, I don't ever want to go back.

We are definitely snobs when it comes to selecting our toys now. One reason is that we have accumulated so much over the past year that we're running out of room to store it all and another reason is that we've found materials/brands that work well for us and tend to go for them.
01/14/2013
definitely more choosy
01/14/2013
Yes, the toys I get tend to be more upscale (quality, material).
01/14/2013
Yes I never buy anything that is not good material.
01/14/2013
I'm more likely to purchase more high-end toys now that I'm on eden.
01/14/2013
Not a snob about brand, but I am about materials. I like silicone, metal, and glass the best, and do not buy much else.
01/14/2013
Totally. My bf's sister keeps trying to get me to become a toy consultant and I have to stop myself from saying "All your company sells is crap toys!!"
01/14/2013
Yes, I (we) put a great deal more thought into brand, material, etc... and immediately dismiss some items based off of that.
01/18/2013
Absolutely not.
I feel like it's talking with sex toy workers that did it. They encouraged me to stay away from the jellies and stay with silicone, glass, or metal, so I have.
In the beginning I wasn't particular because I didn't "know any better," but now I listen to their advice. I've been heeding their advice now that I'm on EF

Definitely. I only get silicone, steel, wood, glass, and occasionally plastic toys.
01/21/2013
Certain materials I'll immediately dismiss but that's little to do with reviewing than it does becoming aware of health/safety. Brand I'm iffy on - I know some brands are 'better quality' than others but you never know when you might run across that little man who blows the brand name out of the water. It's about like with clothes really...

I was always suspicious of my first vibe, a cheapo jelly rabbit that smelled like the Turnpike. Now I know why, and am happily growing a (small) collection of silicone and other body-safe toys. I am so grateful to EF for educating me!

I'm definitely more selective now. I haven't written that many reviews; it's more the forum that's done it for me, as well as reading other people's reviews. I'm very grateful to be able to benefit from so many informed opinions.
Before, when I bought a toy, I felt like it was a gamble. Now, I'm usually pretty sure I'm going to like something before I buy it. Which is awesome.

yes!
01/21/2013
No, not really. I don't use jelly toys but I don't really consider that "snobby".

I use to not know a thing, but becoming a reviewer has really changed how I see the cheap toys in stores... I buy with care and make sure that I am making good, healthy decisions.

A friend of mine is a consultant for a certain company that has the in home parties. After learning so much on Eden Fantasys it's safe to say I will never buy from that company. Their mark-ups are ridiculous. I found the same products on EF for half the price of the party stuff, and they're all in EF's lower price points. Not snobby so much as educated.

I don't even look at the jelly material made ones any more. For me it's silicone and glass, my top 2 choices. So yes, I've become a toy snob. I will pick other materials but the safety rating can't be any lower than a 7 though even 8 is preferred.
01/22/2013
Not so much a snob, but more selective perhaps.
01/22/2013
Seeing how my sex toy experience BEGAN with a lot of research and selectivity, I like to think I was never turned into a snob as much as I was "born" one.
01/24/2013
Maybe not a snob, just more cautious as to what we purchase mainly based on product material, and performance based on reviews.

Stealing your quote lol. That's exactly what we do now that we are reviewers. We will still review unknown items if we like something about it and we're getting it for free.

I don't think of myself as a snob exactly, but I do consider myself much better educated on materials and safety than I was when I started. That plays a big role for me when I am selecting toys to purchase or recommend.
