I was looking at several products i recently purchased that I was playing around with the idea of writing reviews for, but two of these have several reviews already published. Is there a max amount of reviews do you think there should be what is your personal limit?
Should there be a max amount of reviews for a product?

I'm going for the invisible "other" option.
For me, it depends on the product and the reviews. I have seen a product with only 2 or 3 extremely detailed reviews total. I decided not to write a review on it because I couldn't add anything that would be any different. It was already covered. But if its a product I really enjoy, and it has near 100 reviews, I will still write a review for it.
I guess overall it depends on the product, if I feel like writing a review on it or not and what kind of reviews are already on it.

if you "want" to write a review I say go for it. If you want to make that particular review stand out, I would read some of the other most recent reviews to see what can you add to yours to make it that much better. Or maybe include information that might be relevant to a small minority that no one else has included.

Or, just write whatever you want and be done with it lol. I honestly wouldn't worry about there being too many reviews on the product. The more there is, the more it shows how many people have used it and liked or disliked it.

If you want to, do it. For me it personally depends. Sometimes I will do a buyout for the discount, and hence need to write a review. If there are already a lot of reviews and I didn't use buyout, I'm less likely to write a review.

I do tend to try to avoid reviewing products that have a lot of reviews, however, I know when I am researching for new toys and such, I will read reviews on it for hours.
Though, I pretty much will write the review whether there are a lot of reviews or not.

I usually can do some sort of a different spin....even if it is a bit funny or something - so I do reviews.
02/13/2012
Write the review. We don't know why people read the reviews that they do, maybe they want to see who disliked it the most, maybe they wanted to see who loved it the most... maybe they just liked someone's name more than the next.
Write the review.
Write the review.

I review EVERYTHING I own and buy.

do the review.

This is pretty much my stand on it. If it has a lot of reviews, I won't do one unless I have it as a buyout assignment or I feel particularly inspired. I'm a slow reviewer, so I doubt I will ever be at a stage where I've reviewed everything I own.

The more perspectives the merrier!

I'm with cookie monster mike - I look at the reviews that exist and if I can't make anything close or add new information then I don't usually do a review. I try to stick to products that have few reviews or no reviews when I look to get something new.

If it had a lot of reviews and my opinion wasn't anything different, I might not write a review on it. But if I had a wildly differing opinion from everybody else, I'd definitely make sure to get my own opinion out there.

Coming from somebody who ALWAYS reads every review before making a purchase...I say review as much as you can! It never hurts!
02/14/2012
it really depends.
Say a lingerie piece has 20 reviews, but they're all for a medium, and the piece runs S-4x. Ideally, there would be a good review for every size. If I have an XL, there's no way for me to predict who will fit a small.
Lingerie reviews are sort of my thing, so that's the first example that came to mind.
I guess basically any time you have useful info to add.

I think it's fine to have a lot of reviews on a product. Some of the reviews might not be very useful, or might not include pictures, etc. Besides, a new review popping up on horizon may be the selling point for a toy that hasn't been popular lately.

Exactly!

For me, I prefer to see there are a lot of reviews on something. I go through and read at least one review for each star rating, that is, one by someone who rated it at five stars, one who rated it at four, three, two, one... And if I'm looking for a specific bit of info I read every review, and if it's not provided then I provide it myself in my own review! So for me, the more reviews on an item, the better!
02/15/2012
I don't think so--I mean, if a potential reviewer feels he/she has nothing to add that's one thing, but if he/she does, it doesn't seem fair to put a cap on it. The reviews I find the most helpful include a lot of detail about personal experiences with the product, and that could differ significantly from one person to the next, so the more reviews the better, in my book.
05/31/2012
If you want to do it. Don't let that a lot of other people already did one discourage you. If you truly want to write a review on the product, odds are it will turn out good and helpful to someone. Even if there are plenty of reviews already up.
06/01/2012
I don't think I have reviewed an item with more than 20 reviews. Even so, a high review count would not stop me from reviewing something.
06/01/2012
I would write a review for everything I bought. I just like to get my opinion out there though.
06/01/2012
I do reviews no matter how many are on a product. Each person may have different thoughts on a toy, and it never hurts to add your own opinion to the mix.
06/02/2012
I sometimes don't write reviews if I don't feel like I could add something but it's nice to have the option to read them.
06/03/2012
No I don't think there should be a limit. Just look at the Hitachi. It has a ton of reviews and it's good to have diverse opinions on something. I felt that way at first, but realized it's good to get your opinion out there no matter how many reviews are already written.
06/03/2012
Idk for me it seems a little silly to write a review if there are tons, unless you have something specific or different to say, after a while it gets a bit overwhelming
06/03/2012
I don't think there should be a max one, simply because more reviews are always better. Different people like different things, just like the customers, so it's always better to see through more pairs of eyes.
