So I just got a rating on a review. It was useful. Which is fine, I know useful is supposed to be good. But I really think it was better than that. I went to learn more about the person who rated it (I should note that I have never and would never retaliate; and it's a moot point in this case as the person in question has no reviews). But this individual has rated and commented on a review every minute. What do you do in an instance like that? Are they speed readers, giving them the benefit of the doubt; or are they just farming? I'm just going to post my vent right here and let that be it. But it's beyond frustrating!
Rapid readers?

Sounds like a farmer to me... if you're going to farm, as least rate them extremely useful! I kid, I kid...farming is bad. It's getting really annoying to me, too. Down voted reviews and ridiculous posts on the forum. As much as I hate it, I also hate when people respond to the people who probably aren't farmers with things like "this is already a post." It may be a post...that occurred 2 years ago. Ugh!

I've gotten one of those comments from posting about something once. Although the search feature could use some improvement, then I wouldn't have made the boo-boo.
But anyway, that's exactly what this user did. Rated and commented on all reviews of the particular product, each within a minute of each other. Should it be reported? I was just looking at an old thread re: farming.

If they are doing the same thing to each and every review, then I'd consider it farming.

Report it to the Forum Moderator account and let them worry about it.

It takes that person one minute to rate a review...that's slow! I've checked the profile of some reviewers who has been rating six or seven reviews WITHIN one or two minutes, now that's what I call 'speed raters/farmers', even a speed reader can't go that fast!

I don't know what the case was with the user who voted on your review, but it's possible he or she opened up the reviews in different windows, read them all, then voted on each of them. Some readers like to compare, especially if it's reviews for the same product.

I agree that it would seem to be "farming" as far as the way it sounds, and you can certainly submit a support ticket if you feel that this is the case and the admins will look into it. I've done that before.
As far as reading quickly, I'm a speed reader, myself. Often what I will also do is open a bunch of tabs and read the reviews (ALL of them) before going back and rating them, which I do in one big swoop. That's also POSSIBLE, but who knows. Usually, though, if you get comments like "nice review" it makes me feel like they didn't bother reading.

When I see a somewhat useful vote or less I sometimes look at the voter's wall and often find that rapid fire voting has happened. I used to report this to Kristi. Now I report it to JR.

I am a speed reader, I don't mean to be it is just my normal reading style/speed. I open in separate tabs and then rate and comment all at once as well. It keeps me from opening the same reviews a few times, I tend to jump around.

I usually have several review tabs open at once and I'm a speed reader. I rate and comment all at once but I don't know how fast each seperate review takes me to read, rate, and review.
Your particular instance may be farming. Did they rate all of you useful that wrote about that product?

The individual rated and commented on a variety of reviews, one per minute, all with the same comment, but not always the same rating.

I've had a person do that to both of my reviews, without any comments pointing out it was read/what was not so useful. All I hope is it doesn't affect my rating.
Otherwise.. hm.. I do read reviews fast. I'm a fast reader. Usually (not when I'm tired, then it takes ages). But I always make sure to rate them fairly and to comment, at least to thank the reviewer. I know how much work it is, and even if I can't think of any questions/points to change, I like to thank them. But if it's just rating in like, 5 minutes and no comments on the review and all the same rating and anything that proves the person wasn't chain-doing an action, then I would consider it farming.
