Program to compress videos?

Contributor: Zombirella Zombirella
I haven't done a video review in a looooooong time and since then, I've gotten a new laptop. I don't remember what (free) program it was that I had on my old laptop to compress videos down to a size that allowed me to upload it to Eden. Can anyone help please?

I always use Windows Live Movie Maker. You should have it on your computer already.

Mediacoder is a free program for compressing videos that is very fast and powerful. The interface is a little tricky though so I recommend that you have some experience with video compression so you know what the settings do.

I use iDealshare VideoGo to compress video files size.
ith iDealshare VideoGo you can not easily compress videos in formats like AVI, MKV, MP4, FLV, MPEG, VOB, MOV, WMV, 1080p, etc in high video quality but also can save the compressed video in other formats you like.

What operating system? How are the source files encoded? And what does the result need to be encoded to?

Not sure if you still need any input, but these are questions I'd need answered before I could offer suggestions.
