Mentioning rechargeable vs. disposable battery performance in reviews

Contributor: Positwist Positwist
One of my big questions when I'm looking at battery-powered toys is whether it'll perform well with rechargeable batteries. Does anyone else find themselves wanting this info? I've found some toys run just fine with rechargeable batteries, while others are just awful with them.

Or, does anyone wonder which kind of batteries will work best, in general? Alkaline vs. carbon, name brand vs. knock offs--these all can make a difference, in my experience, but sometimes the toy isn't picky and runs great with everything.

I would love to see this become a standard thing to comment on in reviews. What do you think? Do you feel the same, or am I just weirdly obsessed with batteries?

Rechargeable toy storage idea
Like a lot of you, we have toys that either plug directly into the wall (Hitachi) or that re-charge on the wall. Having toys that are not recharged..

I'm so glad that I can just plug in my favorite vibrators instead of having to waste batteries. When I play with my toys it tends to go on for quite..

I do think that it could be handy information, but given that I don't know many people who don't do the battery hop with toys, I'm not sure how easy that information would be to come by. The only time I've ever been able to give anything specific was one toy that for some reason would only work with Duracell batteries, so I noted that in the review.

It'd be useful information to have, but not everyone has a charger and batteries in different sizes, and of those people who do use rechargeables, they probably don't have extra disposable batteries lying around.

I think this would be too much information to expect reviewers to provide as standard.

While it would be helpful to some (like you) I think that it could lend itself to being too cumbersome in a review. I don't think it is necessary either. Not to mention, to expect a reviewer to have all those types of batteries to test it with? Not realistic either.

Hey - you're welcome to make that the focus of your reviews!

I already spend too much on batteries. We use rechargables sometimes but not always.

Oh, I didn't mean that to suggest that reviewers should check every conceivable type of battery. Sorry, I wasn't clear! I meant that it'd be nice if folks mentioned the type and brand of battery they used. Theoretically, after a bunch of people have reported in with different opinions of power using different batteries, correlations may emerge (e.g., everyone who used rechargeables with this toy thought it was weak).
