That's what I get for not saving it before I walked away. He was at the computer pushing buttons and my review was no more
Know what happens when you have a almost 3 year old and you walk away from a review? DELETE :(

AUGHGHGHGHGHGHHHGH!!!!
I've lost one or two reviews, too. It hurts.
I usually do mine on Word, so it autosaves.

OMG, I just thought about this happening when I just walked away from mine and my three year old was at the desk. I usually do mine in word too, but lately have not.

I've written part of a review and my computer messed up so it was gone. I was devastated. I don't know why but I can never write something better the second time around. It only gets worse. I hear that people often do drafts and improve upon their work but aside from adding a few little things, my writing (reviews, poetry, etc.) is always almost perfect the first time and can only get worse if I try to butcher it. My college professors always told everyone to do drafts and since that wasn't my process, I would fake them if they needed to be turned in for a grade. Writing only once sure didn't stop me from getting A's.

I did a review a couple of weeks ago and my browser froze, but luckily I had saved it earlier to see what it looked like when I added the pics so I only had to remember a little bit to add to it instead of the entire review.

I have had this happen a lot in my beginner days! I quickly learned to save before walking away!
03/05/2012
Aww Sorry about that!

ROFL I am so sorry Unfulfilled. I know your pain. My son regularly does that because he knows the nifty red box when clicked changed the pictures on the screen!

I have been down to the last words in a review and just given up for the day after...now I save frequently while writing the review just so that if he clicks off the page or other nasty trick it's saved and safe.

This reminds me of a story a programmer once told. Back in the days of Fortran, when programs were written on stacks of cards, his two year old knocked over a stack, ruining his program. Years later, programming on a computer, he again had a two year old in the house and while he was coding and found that his screen went blank and he lost all the code he hadn't saved. His two year old had crawled under the desk and pulled out the power cord.
The take home lesson is that however you program (or write reviews, apparently) a two year old (or three year old) can ruin it.

This is why I have Word set to auto save every 5 minutes or so and write everything in Word first.
So sorry you lost all your hard work though!

Oh no! That sucks :S

So sorry, that would absolutely suck! I tend to be overly-paranoid and save after every section.

That's funny because I do this too.

I ended up deleting a huge portion of my review one time when I accidently clicked on a button I shouldn't have. This was terrible because it was for a product with a zillion and one ingredients, and I typed out every ingredient just for it to be deleted.

Ouch. I ocasionally split the Internet screen if he wants to play on my lap and bring up a game or something for him in the other widow.
03/06/2012
Ugg...so sorry that happened to you. I tend to write all mine out on paper before typing it up. I still get upset if I lose something and have to retype it. The thought of having to remember everything would probably make me cry.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that this has happened to. I've learned a lesson though, always SAVE before stepping away.

This is how I write, also! When I try to improve my work, I butcher it and it does not 'flow'. I have to write as the words are flowing out or it is stiff, forced and not easily read.

My three year old turned on the voice over option the other day! My computer was talking to me for thirty minutes before I could figure out how to stop it. X.x Lesson learned: close the computer when you have to walk away.
I usually save after each section. I've lost entire reviews before because my internet randomly goes out or something right after I hit "Save and Preview" to look it over. Now I copy and paste a section and do Save and Preview. That way I can't lose anything. I don't like using a word processor first. I've tried that before and just meh.

That's why I do my reviews when mine isn't around. I don't want to be in the habit of doing them when he can read.. lol
