Is it just me?

Is there anyone else who feels like it's unfair to rate reviews that other people have done on products you have reviewed yourself? I find myself not voting in these instances, and I'm wondering if it's just me and I'm being weird or if there are other people who feel this way.

No, I don't. If a review is good and you vote good, then it's deserved. The same if it's bad and you vote bad. If you vote unfairly because you don't want theirs to be better than yours, THEN it's wrong. But no, it's not unfair to vote for reviews on products you've reviewed.

I don't think it's unfair to vote on them at all. I'm voting on the review and how well it is written - not if they agreed with me or not. What is important to me is that they can express why they like or don't like a product.

I don't see why it would be unfair. When I read reviews about products I've used personally, or have even reviewed myself, I try to be objective. I don't look at it and say, "well my experience with it was good, so this review that says it's bad is obviously wrong!". I read (and vote on) the review as I would any other review on the site.

As long as you vote objectively on how well the reviewer did and not on whether they agree with you or not then you are being fair. I often read and vote on reviews written about products I have reviewed, I like seeing how other people view the products, it broadens the perspective.

I don't think it's unfair either.

I vote on the review, not the product. I do enjoy reading other peoples perspectives, however.

I agree with this.

As long as the person is rating the review, and not the difference or similarities in the writer's opinion.

I don't think so.
I think as long as you vote fairly, it's not a big deal.

I like reading other people's reviews on products I've done. I see them in a different light.

me too. Actually, there has been many times where a review makes me purchase the product... and then I write my own review on it giving my own opinion.

Thanks guys, I don't feel so bad now! I don't know why but I always feel like I need to hold back when I'm reading a review someone else has done on a product I've reviewed myself. It's not necessarily because they have a different opinion than mine, I can't even really explain what it is...I just feel like I shouldn't vote on it. *sigh* Maybe I'm just crazy.

And holy crap, I didn't realize how long ago I'd posted this question. Time just seems to have flown out the window.
