i rate them based on the amount of pertinent info given, the section on personal experience and the depth of content. if a review is humorous, or has a great story behind the use or has pictures these all help, but the lack of these don't subtract from a review

I agree with Mikamanz. I try to look at each review carefully. If the review didn't have the answer to my question (and I'm in the middle of trying to buy something), then I will usually mark the review down to maybe "useful". If it is missing LOTS of things in it? I might mark it down more. I do love to read funny or entertaining reviews, but I definitely do not count that against anyone. All I really ask for is a review that is reasonably easy to read (maybe not PERFECT grammar, but decent spelling and punctuation), and tells me what I need to know.

Short answer, I try to rate based on how educated I feel about the toy after I've read the review. If I have a firm grasp on whether or not it's for me, I consider it a proper review.

We read every review as if we were purchasing an item. Do we now have all the info we'd need? Do we need to go back to the product specs page for an answer...is info missing...lube...clean ing...size

If a review is hard to read..we try...but usually will vote lower...

Really we are just looking to see if it gives enough specific information to be able to make an educated decision on purchase. The reviewers liking or hating an item...without the specifics...isn't extremely useful...that opinion coupled with the products facts...now that is extremely useful.
