I have been reading just about every review that has been coming out and then some...I gota say that I wonder sometimes if the person actually owns or had owned the product.Im not saying all reviews I think this about but there are some that state whats on the product page or what you can see on the product page and then there opinion on it!No other useful info on it!Im wondering if Im not the only one that has thought this? Or my other thought when i think this is did alittle info get taken off different reviews about the product to make their review(in which I check those reviews and I think that has been the case on two because they were so similar)
Out of curiousity...does it seem to you some reviews are possibly written on products one might not own?

Sadly it happens. It is also sometimes that those new to reviewing think a review is less factual and more of an opinion piece.
But I see what you mean, it sucks because it takes products away from good reviewers who could do a better job reviewing the product.

Yes. I've reported it too but it doesn't seem to matter because of lack of evidence. Lately, some reviews that are coming in are SO vague that they could be about any similar product and noting particular is said that makes me believe it.
I know that people own things that EF doesn't carry and sometimes we have something and all of a sudden EF gets it and we review it. But I noticed also recently that new people have come in and put out reviews for an item(s) that EF JUST got in like the day before or exact day and the review is also vague and it makes me wonder. I just then vote the review what I feel it deserves, which is usually below somewhat useful, especially if the person has more than a few reviews and has ignored suggestions/tips on how to improve or get a mentor. But what really irks me is the people that point farm or think they are voting on the PRODUCT not the REVIEW and give the person an EU or U vote, thus, helping their rank. I saw someone comment on many reviews within seconds/mins with the same 3 words "it was good" and voted three of those vague reviews as EU then gave my Smart Wand review a lower vote! REALLY?! I know they were just doing tasks for points. But then this person's rank goes up and then they qualify for a higher price range in free product. It's irritating .
I hate that I have become suspicious of some reviews but it makes me mad that some of us really take our time and put in effort and honesty in our reviews and someone wants to go and scam the site. Especially to become advanced and then get a free product or buyout discount and put out the bare minimum in their review, leave out important info and ignore people's suggestions on what to add or to get a mentor. It makes me sad that EF continues to let these people review and get the perks. I mean if you have 15 or more reviews out (heck, even 10) then I feel your rank shouldn't be below a 5 unless you have been inactive for a period of time.
I know we only get 50 points for reviews but you are also getting a 30% discount and the monthly free review, it is only fair to put effort into a quality review for such a giving site!
I just worry the slackers and scammers are going to ruin the review and points program for the rest of us that are honest.

I'm curious about this as well. My one things is I wish it was required we add at least one picture to verify we have the product, but then that's discriminating against those who write excellent reviews and just don't have a camera or the time to do pictures.
07/13/2012
I've read at least one review where I questioned whether the person had actually used the product, but I know they actually had it in their possession from the pictures they posted.

If there are any concerns, the best thing to do is to email us about it and we will investigate. Starting forum threads about issues like this really do not aid in resolving the situation. It is our job to investigate these situations, not bringing the evidence to an admin is only encouraging the problem.

A few have come up that make me wonder, but I like to give new reviewers the benefit of the doubt. Writing reviews for EF is very different from other sites, and it can be an adjustment.

"It is also sometimes that those new to reviewing think a review is less factual and more of an opinion piece."
For the record, a review should be both. I appreciate specs in a review, so that I don't have to go back-and-forth to the product page, but I also want to know what the reviewer personally thinks about the product — how he or she used it (not always as intended), and if they enjoyed it or not.

Yeah, seconding that this should be reported, ESPECIALLY if you see a trend with a person. I don't really read enough reviews anymore to notice trends, but the one time I did I brought it to admin's attention. If I just see one review that's questionable I get annoyed but leave it be.

I'm new and I have been working really hard at my reviews. I haven't posted pictures cuz I'm technology challenged. But I really do have what I am reviewing.
07/13/2012
There are a few times when I have questioned the review. I do give them the benefit of the doubt, but watch other reviews written by the same person to see if it is their style or if they were really ignorant of the product.

I agree completely!thats what i mean..they are so vague!my other beef would be that these people that have all u,or sm and lower have a ranking of 5 or more..def. shouldnt be especially because they arent taking tips.I really hope it doesnt ruin it for everyone else but I feel those vague and completely useless reviews shouldnt be accepted.there was one recently I asked a question about the product part that you cant see in product photo to see and they never answered my question!I love EF and i would be lost if some people ruined it for everyone
