I think it is only polite, and I try to comment/rate back, do you? Do you like it when people comment/rate back? Or... Do you only read reviews for toys you are going to buy? What if said person doesn't have any reviews up, what do you do then?
When someone comments on/rates your review, do you comment/rate one of theirs?

I subscribe to the rss feed of reviews and read them that way, rather than clicking to them through the comments on my own reviews. I don't even know who wrote a review I'm reading until I've reached the bottom, unless I happen to recognize their style.

Sometimes.

I read some reviews regularly and they also read mine, but I read a lot of reviews. I don't do it because they read mine, I do it because they write reviews that I like.
03/21/2012
I try to reciprocate for my reviewers.

I think the review are to help us make informed purchases. When I am curious about a toy I read the reviews. I also read the reviews in the round up and reviews that look interesting on my wall. I think the product should be the main attraction, not who the reviewer is!

i read reviews a lot for all sorts of stuff i'm never going to buy. i love to read and learn from other reviewers. I always rate, and coment. I love it when others rate of comment on my reviews.
I even just visit people pages to see there latest reviews and read and rate them.

Saying thanks is nice, but I think that's the only thing completely necessary
03/21/2012
I only read reviews about items I'm interested in, so if that person happens to have a review that catches my curiosity, I'll read and vote on it, or else I'll just leave a message on the person's wall and thank he/she for reading and voting on my review.
One thing I like to mention, when EFers vote without leaving comments on a review, it's hard to keep track who voted when and thank them back, since the screen names do not have any order in the voting status popup.

Anymore, I only read reviews for products I'm interested in and reviews written by people that I KNOW are good writers. I'm so tired of wasting my time formulating a comment telling the writer everything they forgot and giving them suggestions. I feel kind of like the bad guy when I do that, too, even though I'm obviously only helping them for the future. So I don't read/comment back. I wouldn't have the time, anyway! I barely have the time to write my own! Lol. Well, at least I barely have the motivation.

I did a poll on this I am just going to keep my mouth shut on this one. It did not turn out so well. But I understand now where people are coming from.

No, I don't rate/comment back. I get about 50 emails with comments on my reviews each day. I don't have time to go read 50 reviews by each person that commented. I don't believe the site is set up to give votes like that. If someone votes you down, there may be an inclination to vote down on them. If someone votes EU on your review, you may feel obligated to vote EU on their review even if it's bad. That's not how the system should work.
I read reviews on products that catch my interest. When I have time, I read from the main page that lists new reviews. Sometimes I read from the RSS feed, though that's rare. I have alerts set for a very small group of people. I like their writing style and don't want to miss their reviews.
Like Nazaress, I do not always vote or comment on every review. If it will take me more time to write up a comment on what you left out than it took you to write the review, I move along. If you don't want to put forth effort, I won't waste my time either.

I usually do check out one of theirs but I have slacked off a few times. It'd be nice if the person looked at one of yours after you rate theirs but it's not a big deal, people don't have time, some only read reviews on things they're interested in. I read some to get points from voting and commenting and also read some when I'm bored and have nothing else to do. Like the top reviewers, they probably get tons of comments and it'd be hard to return the favor back. I like to check out the newest reviews on the community page if it's something that looks interesting or a new product.

If I always comment on and rate your reviews, it's because I like them. It's also because I receive emails when you post one. I like to improve my writing. I'm also not opposed to seeing what other people are interested in. Others have introduced me to products that I've never even thought about purchasing!
Would I appreciate them rating and commenting on my reviews as well? Yes. Do I expect it? No.
Here lately, I've gotten a good many votes from point farmers. I'm SO tempted to post on their walls: "Please don't rate or comment on anymore of my reviews. You're an idiot."

I chose other, I don't write reviews...

i at least check out the person

With the amount of reviews I have on here and my other responsibilities it is hard for me to personally read and thank everyone who comments or reads my reviews. I would not be able to handle my duties and responsibilities or write my own reviews if I did that, however I do try to make sure I catch at least a few of them when I have open time on here and am just browsing.

I have certain reviewers that i watch for due to their review style. I want information, not soft core porn. I like the tough reviews. I mean why sugar coat a review. Tell it the way you see it. Another thing i watch for is comparisons with other like products. That is VERY helpful. I try and drop individual thread thank you messages, cause i appreciate the hard work that goes into reviewing.
03/22/2012
I always read the new reviews and rate those.
03/24/2012
Nope.
Lately I am trying to remember to hit the Community Page and read the toys on the first few pages. I'll read, comment and give a rank. No matter who wrote the review, and no matter who has commented on my reviews.
I don't think it is really polite to return the favour, sometimes you just might not be interested in the products they have reviewed.

Other...Sometimes I rate / comment back, other times I don't. It just depends on what kind of time that I have.

I agree. Actually going through and giving a thorough critique is hard work - that's what the mentor program is for.

I have alerts for certian people, I read the weekly roundup, the rumble, those that comment on mine, items I'm interested in purchasing, and the RSS feed so I get them from everywhere.
