Anyone else notice "ghost" votes?

Contributor: ~LaUr3n~ ~LaUr3n~
I have noticed the last few days that people are voting on my reviews (or perhaps one person dunno) without a tag next to their vote. In essence their votes are anonymous and this should not be happening with the new system.

Anyone else notice votes like this?

Did I miss something? Are we going back to the old way?

Wow, that is weird. I had no idea what you were talking about, but when I went to your most recent review I noticed one of those "ghost" reviews too.

Totally weird. I hope there's a good answer.

I picked one of her recent reviews and it occurred at least in this one.

Hmmmmm and it would happen to be the most negative vote that is hidden! Odd little glitch.

I asked Neuron Geek to check it out.

I have no idea how this could happen, other than people voting and then deleting their own account.

I have some, too. Reviews with like 14 votes, only 12 names show up. I'm assuming facebook/myspace/whate ver else is allowed log in?

Yeah, like this one link

12 votes, only 11 names show up.

That's so odd.

I did notice months ago some vote change oddness with an older review. I used to keep a spreadsheet of all details of my reviews and the votes for one or two had changed in a way that didn't seem right, like fewer votes than a review used to have. I just didn't bother to say anything.

Yup my last like 3-4 reviews. I think there was 1-2 on each one.

Some good ideas here. Glad I'm not the only one.

It's the FB connect. I just voted on these reviews - link , link , link using my personal facebook and all have more votes than names - and none of the names are my FB name.

Though that makes no sense because I know my fiance has commented and voted on a few of my reviews and it USED to show his name in the votes. But on this one, his comment is there, but no name in the vote area link

Did we change something?

I'd seen this before, but hadn't noticed it happening so much recently. It's likely linked to FB/etc, as Carrie Ann suggested. I'll be keeping an eye on this topic though to hear Neuron Geek's official diagnosis of the interesting phenomena.

I haven't noticed but maybe it could be someone who has logged in through Facebook, etc.

I have noticed it on a lot of my reviews. I don't really know how it happens. I know I don't have the option to ghost vote. Could it be from people who are not logged into the system?

Frankly, haven't noticed it before but I never counted the votes vs names either.

Hopefully they fix that, because if you can go through facebook to remain anonymous in your vote, then we're back to square one with accountability and transparency.

How strange. I am new here so I didn't know there was a past problem with the votes. Were people unduly harsh in their voting when the voting was anonymous?

I do have a suggestion that I think might be extremely helpful: If anyone checks a review they are rating as less than *Useful*, then have a required field that must be filled out with a brief explanation as to what exactly is lacking or needs improvement. I think that would be more fair to the reviewer, since criticism without feedback is not very helpful. And it would benefit the community as well since providing constructive criticism on reviews only leads to more and more quality reviews.
