Declining?

Contributor: Zombirella Zombirella
If you decline a descriptive assignment does that decrease your chances of being sent any more DR assignments? I was sent one (a butt plug) but I have only prostate massagers listed as things I would take since I can use it with my partner and work on the review together.
I *thought* about maybe giving it a try but I just didn't think it was a good idea for me to do a DR on something I have NO experience with and I'm still not comfortable trying anything anally myself. I'm just hoping that won't hurt my chances of being sent another DR assignment.

I have never declined one, but I doubt it will hurt your chances of getting another.

I would not think it would hurt your chances at all. I had to decline a vibrating cock ring that was exactly like my husband and I had previously tried and hated but still get DR's reasonably regularly. They would much rather you be honest and decline the assignment vs. having to send another of the same item to a different person because it was a bad fit for you. The staff does understand that with the toys you will have preferences and they just pass it along to someone who would love the item.

No harm no foul!

It's totally ok to decline a product pushed to you for a review. It won't effect you negatively in ANY way.

I have declined a number of DRs, either because it was something I wouldn't use (like a harness or a packer or a huge butt plug) or because it was something made of a material I don't feel safe with.

I always am asked again. You are not penalized for turning down DRs. One has to know the item well, after testing it to write a DR. I think Eden would rather we turn down the products we know we won't use well, rather than write a totally clueless DR.

Please, feel free to turn down products you know are not right for you.

Thanks for replying everyone! I was a little worried but I just didn't think it was fair for me to do it when there is someone else that uses those toys and likes them and could give a great review. If I ever use anal toys and do a review I will probably get a mentor that knows about them to help me write a good review about it.

I'm so glad you asked this question, because I was wondering what the answer was as well! I'm not part of the DR program yet, but it's good to know when the time comes!

Naw, it doesn't cause you to be offered less products but there is a list so you may have to wait for the next go 'round. They do encourage us to try new things but you ALWAYS have the right to decline an assignment without repercussions.

It also allows the product to go to someone who may have more experience and actually wants to do a DR for it! Not all products are stellar but if you really aren't interested then say so.

I am glad to hear you can decline...I'm not too interested in reading reviews on items that people were "forced" to try out even though it's something they would not buy themselves! It's just not the same as an honest love it or hate it review.
