I'm a sophomore in college right now and I spend about 100-150 dollars a week on myself for food. I live in an area where food is relatively expensive. How much do/did you spend? And how many times did you eat out during the week? (Like eat at restaurants and take out. If you had a meal plan this doesn't count.)
How much money did/do you spend on food a week in college? How many times a week did you go out to eat?

I'd say $50-$70 a week. That's for me and my partner. We rarely eat out. We grocery shop regularly and I take my lunches to campus so I'm not starving between classes and tempted to grab something from our student union food court.
But Panda Express is never a bad idea...yummmmm

I live in New York but I'm pretty cheap - I try to eat for under $50 a week, although I often falter (I am on campus for up to twelve hours or more some days and I often don't bring enough food with me!). Bodega muffins will be the death of me, I swear.

Wow, where I'm at I only spend $30-ish a week for my partner and I. It looks like you need to be more thrifty/look at cheaper shops....
I usually frequent Aldi's and sometimes Woodman's if I'm feeling splurgy.

I live in the town of Boca Raton, Florida where it's all swanky with rich old Jewish people and shit. It's 5 dollars for a bag of spinach. Apples are like 2.99 a pound. My pound of deli meat for sandwiches costs 10 dollars and the half pound of cheese is like 5-6 bucks. And those apples and sandwhiches are enough to last my 4 days of lunch or 2 days of food if I ate the same thing for every meal. I can't help it. I try Walmart and stores like that and it's still expensive. :/ Maybe I just eat a lot?...

I had a meal plan, but I would go out to eat a couple of times a week too.

It costs usually $50 or less for us to eat each week. We go grocery shopping maybe once a month and spend about $80 or so, then we just pick up a couple of things here and there after work when we need it.
How often we eat out depends on what is going on that week. Last week we ate out 2 or 3 times, then this week we ate out once so far. If we're going to be away from home for the day we usually eat lunch out. If we're just hanging around at home, we cook.

I spent under $50, but had meal plan a few yrs...even after leaving that I didn't spend too much.

Luckily I live at home so most of my food costs are cut!

I mostly lived on ready meals because I was too lazy to cook, but I never tended to pay much attention to the price.

I was under $50 - but I used coupons and I didn't drink or go out to eat much

When I was in undergrad in NYC, I'd spend about $100-150 PER MONTH on food (so around $25-40 per week). It's not easy, but if I could do it in expensive-as-hell Greenwich Village, then I'm pretty sure anybody can.

Way less than a $100/wk, but that was a long time ago.

Around 100-150 dollars a week and I am really trying to spend as little as possible. I never eat out, as it would make my food bill even bigger. Most of my classmates who spend little money on food live on pasta, noodles and other carbs. I can't do that, I have to eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies otherwise I get sick.
