Do you really fall for a guy that's just like your father? Does anyone else have a "Is it true when they say?"
Is it true what they say?

No - I never have, but then I don't like my father.

I'll deny it, but I think I have at times. Not on purpose of course.

My husband is nothing like my father.

My father's not a woman, so nope.

no,, but older men are atracttive well some to my opinion

I think the explanation for that is that we're attracted to what's familiar and what reminds us of familiar things.
However, I don't have a father and I certainly wouldn't want someone like my mother, so no.

In some aspects and not others. I like men with remarkable senses of humor, who place a high importance on confidence and information flow, and who can teach me things. All of those are traits my father's got in spades.
However, I am attracted to skinny men, and men who are *patient* teachers, and who let me know when I've made them proud or happy. My dad isn't any of those things.
So---you need enough familiarity to be comfortable. But hopefully, if you're trying to grow as a person, you'll identify and be attracted to aspects you need in your current life that you didn't have when you were growing up.

No. My husband is nothing like my father. My father was an emotionally and physically abusive asshole.

I think there's definitely some truth to it.

It happens. I guess it depends on how strong of an influence your dad was as you grew up. Another "is it true" thought is the women turning into their mother thing. I just wonder which is worse...

It happens but it's not a rule.
It may have been a little more "the norm" when girls were raised to basically worship and obey their fathers and were considered, even unofficially, property of their fathers.
I only know my dad well enough to know that my taste in guys isn't very similar.
