Deflection or something more serious?

Contributor: deltalima deltalima
Lately, my partner likes to criticize me a lot, especially when we're being intimate. Tonight I finally had enough and told him I'm not going to be giving anything up for a while! We've never had major problems before and I believed we had a healthy relationship where we would discuss our lives outside from each other. But now I'm questioning that.

Anyways, do you have a suggestion, whether short or long-term, that you think would help?

Has anything changed lately? Weight gain/loss, new friends, mood changes. Things like this can cause a partners feelings to change. I would ask whats going on and why he did not justbtalk to you. Also try to think of whether or not he has been hinting or showing signs of some type of change/disturbance in your normal lives and routines.

Of course there are no magic words but try to talk to him. There's always the possibility that he isn't emotionally mature enough to even realize that he's hurt you with his comments. We all make mistakes, help him to understand that he's been making some that need corrected. I wish good luck to both of you.

No nothing major. I just let him be on his own for a while and he's better now. Thanks
