Lingerie Party - Have you ever attended one? What are they about?

Contributor: rom323 rom323
My wife just got invited to a lingerie party by one of her female friends.

We have never heard of one of these, but what we have gathered so far, is that a group of women, usually friends or friends of friends, gather at a house all wearing lingerie. Prizes are awarded for various things. Games are played.

Can someone please explain what they are, what happens at them, and are they fun?

It's most likely the lingerie equivalent of a Tupperware/Mary Kay/Avon party. I would be expecting the following:

- Cheap, poorly made lingerie at ridiculous prices
- Silly games that are gender-biased and sexist
- Alcohol flowing heavily so the checkbooks open freely
- Women in attendance who are uncomfortable with the concept and refuse to participate

(I'm a cynic by birth and a skeptic by social conditioning. If it's not at all like that, I'd love to hear about it. )

It's a similar concept as a jewelry/Tupperware/avo n party where the host receives a commission or free things for hosting it and the sales rep has a chance to show and talk about the items services offered by the company.I've been to a couple and I believe your experience all depends on the company and the host. One of the parties I went to was wild and crazy tons of drinks games with prizes models etc it was fun to a degree but quickly became obnoxious once a few drinks were in peoples systems but I got to see lingerie that I haven't seen unfortunately not in my size or budget. The other party was nice no drinking but full of games and fun activities won a few prizes clear descriptions of the garments and we got to see and touch most of what the company offered.

There are a couple different formats. The first one is lingerie only and is similar to a Mary Kay/Tupperware style party and features ONLY lingerie. The second one features lingerie and toys.

Think toned down bachelorette party. Depending on the company it can be either fun or a bit...immature. I have a friend that has these parties twice a year and I look forward to them for the fun times. Another lady had one and has the most unique people invited and I felt like I was in Jr. High.

When in doubt, ask the hostess or a friend that has been to one. The lingerie is pretty basic, similar to what is found in an adult store and the toys are generally the cheaper materials. I have been surprised a few times, though but that was due to the hostess having higher quality toys she purchased herself for demo.

I can say I have heard of parties where tupperware and such is sold but I have never heard of a lingerie party. It would be very interesting to go to one, as long as the guests didn't act like kids in high school. I have heard of passion parties, which if I recall correctly is mostly women and toys. Eden offers a wide variety of lingerie but they always discontinue a lot.

I had a friend that used to sell plus sized lingerie and did parties frequently. I can't recall the name of the company she sold for. It really depends on the people in attendance how wild or fun they can be.

What she said.

Exactly the experience I have had four different times, in four different states, many years apart. You said it all very eloquently. Thanks.

True, but the "fun" of the party doesn't change the fact of the limited selection, and, from my experience, high prices for low quality goods.

What the hell is a lingerie party? I've heard of toy parties X'D But not lingerie! Though I'm sure I can work it out for myself.

I've heard of them, but have not attended one. I'm not entirely sure what they involve.
