They're two very different things, but a curious question beckons. What if you wish to be married to both parties you are in love with? Is it hard to accept that your relationship with more than one party can't venture into marriage? Do you think some polyamorists wish they could convert a polygamous relationship?

Polyamory and polygamy?

If you're in a polyamorous relationship, would you get married to one/more individuals if it were legal?

I'm in a monogamous relationship.. but I also think that if someone wants to marry more than one person, good for them! It should be legal everywhere.

I would love to make an honest man out of my life partner. I love them both and they should have the legal right to show the world how committed they are to me and our family....but marriage seems to be viewed as some exclusive club that needs criteria so that the married people feel like they are superior or have something extra special. My problem with it is that the adherents seem to believe that someone else being happy in a different arrangement somehow cheapens what they, themselves, have. I fail to see how my happy, successful home means someone who is monogamous is somehow less happy or that their commitment is somehow lessened. Still it is the one bias I hear more often than not.

At any rate it also seems to be the insurance and government payments that are the most often cited 'problems' with making marriage truly open...the almighty dollar. Yet another stupid argument...

Awesome points, but still not for me. My non-support for legality has nothing to do with morals.

We have thought of doing the same and that is a lovely idea SiNn. We will probably be dissolving our legal marriage, Sigel and I and 'flipping the marriage equation' in the future. Sigel will be there when Arch and I get married and he has said he'd like to give me away in such a way that it is understood that he is in no way giving me away! Right now we need to keep things as they are because Sigel has the better medical insurance plan. Mercinary reason, no?

we're not necessarily monogamous, but its the closest thing that describes us. WE have threesomes, but no personal involvements. We only want each other, just find fun with others included! I think anyone should be able to marry/be with/have sex with anyone they want, as long as they're okay with it, and they're partners okay with it. If you're sneaking around, its cheating. simple. But the law shouldn't be able to decide what is and isn't okay in people's home and personal lives. I wouldn't ever get married to someone else, but thats just me. I realize this, and don't care if someone wants to have 30 wives/husbands/lovers, anything! I actually see the benefits for some, although they don't fit us. I see how raising kids together could be a major help, its just like having grandma/grandpa/aunt/u ncle/cousins around a lot. Just more close/extended family! I think anyone should do as they please, as long as they're not hurting anyone (i.e spouse, kids).

I'm in a monogamous relationship, but I don't care what others do as long as they are happy and not getting hurt or hurting another partner then its ok with me.
