Polyamory - Emotionless sex?

Contributor: xgreatlovex xgreatlovex
I fully feel that having sexual encounters with a person other than my spouse would not in any way change the way i feel towards him. A person has so many needs - is it really wrong to fulfill a desire with another that you have no emotional feelings towards only sexual?

Nothing "is" wrong or right. It's just your mind that makes it right or wrong.

Ummm polyamory is about the complete opposite of what you are intimating. it's all about emotions, building them, nurturing them, having them in abundance. Hell even the name says "Many Loves" not many encounters of emotionless sex!

Do I believe that treating sex as just another activity that feels good is wrong? No, I don't. Having a quick tryst that is nothing more than a physical encounter can be awesome. Sometimes it can be very rewarding and lead to deeper things but even if it doesn't it's kind of exhilarating.

Still, this shouldn't be used as a justification for cheating...that's wrong, period.

Thanks Airen,

I was having a hard time trying to come up with a good way to answer this. You did it perfectly!

To the OP,

To continue in the vein of Airen's response, some people are able to have emotionless sex. It's fine. Some people are not. That's fine too. Just make sure you are communicating clearly with those you are involving exactly how you feel and how they feel.
