I grew up as a Mormon, so I've heard a lot about the whole polygamy thing (although they try to cover it up). I've watched Big Love and Sister Wives and those type of shows, and sometimes I think I wouldn't mind being one of those wives. But I still think it's very discriminatory against women...

Given that women can have sex as often as their libido allows, while men have a physical recovery time: from a sexual point of view, polyandry makes more sense than polygyny.

On marriage? No. On some good values to give children and have a cohesive, supporting, and loving family?...Yeah, sure; but a lot of other people get that right too.

Funny question as we have a Mormon in serious contention for the President of the USA. I know that when Kennedy ran, they were all worried about how strange it would be to have a Catholic! Every group is going to get it's "first time" some time.

I'm Mormon, so I'll be the sole yes! Even though I would never want to be in a polygamous relationship.

Nope - I don't think religion should dictate who people love or how many they love. I'm an advocate for both secular polygamy and polyamory, but only when done willingly, by consenting adults, with the emotional capacity to be in that type of relationship (which is not for everyone - it's not a good or bad thing, but different people are better suited for different things).

Most religions are pretty messed up but Mormonism is especially crazy. But then I'm an atheist after all.

As an exmormon, hell no. In regards to polygamy, many of the men who were involved in such went behind their wives' backs, and Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, married girls as young as 14 without his wife's knowledge. Women were generally only allowed to be married to one man at a time as well. Many people were told that in order to reach the highest tier of heaven, one had to practice polygamy, often pressuring people into unwanted polygamous relationships;. While polygamy alone is not a real problem, Mormons didn't and don't handle it well, just as Mormons didn't and don't handle most things well.

Mormon individuals have a lot of interesting beliefs. Rather people of their faith were happy or not in relationships involving one man and multiple women I think would really matter in being right, and I doubt everyone felt that type of relationship was right for them.

Poly marriages that we hear of in Mormonism are usually forced, so no. Consented Poly relationships, on the other hand, are more natural to humans.

Nope, since it's entirely one sided. A man can have multiple wives, but a wife can't have multiple husbands. That's all I can say, since my knowledge of Mormonism is admittedly mostly from the loud minority

I wouldn't call blatant sexism and forced marriages, among other ridiculousness, "having it right."

Nope. Mormanism isn't my thing. Forcing little girls to be your wives? No way. Everything should be consentual

No because it's not equal. Female mormons aren't necessarily allowed to have more than one husband. Polyamory is all about equality.

No, I don't believe they did. I have nothing against consensual polygamy, but I think if a woman wants more than one husband, that should be as accepted as when a man wants more than one wife.
