My mom really liked my boyfriend, whereas both of my sisters didn't like him. :/

From the way I answered all three, I should find more people that DO care about my life lol

Always supportive

How did they react to me having a boyfriend? Well, I've had a few. My parents reacted less than wonderfully when I was a teenager and had this really, really rude, disrespectful, negative, arrogant, asshole boyfriend who thought a girlfriend owed him something. They were right though to be concerned, although they never were strict or angry about it, but they did give me plenty of talks about how to watch out for myself.

My current partner and I have been together for 6 years & everyone reacted fine, I guess. Not really anybody else's business, unless the ones you care about are expressing concerns over a harmful relationship, otherwise I see no reason for them to have any reaction. Mine don't and never really did except for when they seen me getting treated badly.
My partner and I are actually very close with each other's families. His dad (his mom was not in his life, so I never met her and she died. He met her at 2 years old and I think that's it) and I are great together! We're a lot alike. Lol. We've always gotten along wonderfully with each other's parents. We're like a big family. His dad is really wonderful to me and my parents to him, and him to them. Lol.
As for friends, well I didn't really keep the same friends as I had when he & I first got together.

The disapproval wasn't quiet quiet but it wasn't angry either.

My dad was indifferent but my mom absolutely loved him right away. Even my brother likes him which is kind of a big deal lol

Well... his and mine families go way back so most thought it was only a matter of time, but our uncles, who were brought up together and remain best friends, thought it was a terrible idea. Apparently if we were to break up it would ruin the years that our families have been best friends, but we all know that it would never come to that...

My Mom Doesn't Like My Boyfriend Simply Because I Wear His Collar.
01/13/2013
My mom HATED all but one of my girlfriends before she met the woman who is now my wife. I have to say, she was spot on about each one.
Never gave a rat's ass what my dad thought.
My best friends have liked most of my girlfriends, except for the one who ended up screwing me over. In retrospect, I should have listened to them, and to my mom, about her.

If I'm happy, they're happy.

At first my friends were happy for me, because they knew how crazy I was for him, and my parents didn't like him, but now it's the opposite. My friends dislike it because I spend all my time with him, and they don't want to hang out with both of us, so I don't see them as much, and my family loves him. ha

Ive only had one boyfriend so people were really excited (most of my family thought I was a lesbian beforehand), and some just liked to tease me since I always said I never wanted to date.

Everyone loved my final choice of man to marry, now all the previous ones and even some of my dates were met in a friendly manner but not approved of. In the long run and looking back now, my choice was a sound one.

They really liked him. They thought he was fun and very sweet.

When I started dating My Man I was only 16 years old. He's older than I am and my father (who was still married to my mother) was not happy. He tried to openly get me to leave My Man. He (mistakenly) seemed to think that it was easy for women to "ask men out" and tried to get me to ask out guys in my High School and even guys at the Uni where he worked. I rarely ever did.
Odd, because he and my mother got divorced when I was a senior in HS and he eventually hooked up with a woman not much older than I am! She's a lovely woman and I really love her, but he had problems with ME dating an older man. He said, "Older men expect certain things." Yeah, so do younger men.
Anyway, they get along now. I got together with My Man a LONG time ago, we went through a time with an Open Relationship, and my father fell "in love" with an Italian guy I dated. (He's Italian.) He kept talking about this guy, long after it was over and I finally said, "Why don't YOU ask Carlo out, if you like him so much?" That ended that discussion.

None of my friends cared either way.
01/15/2013
I'm still pretty young so my parents see it as a phase or something to not read too much into which is understandable.

I brought a felon home once, oh, he was also a pro poker player...needless to say, my parents were pleased with just about everyone after him =) haha

They were thrilled, but that is partially because they hated my ex-boyfriend (who was directionless and didn't treat me very well).
02/25/2013
My fiance fits right in with my family, it's like he's always just been there - so of course they were thrilled when things got serious between us (which didn't take long). I'm not sure his family feels the same way.....but they don't seem to be too happy with anything he does so, I try not to be offended. We're happy, so screw em!
