The CPAP is really hard to get used to. There are special pillows for your head, which make using the machine easier, and the CPAP is a lifesaver, but it can take about 10 days or so to get used to it.

I made the mistake of showing one to My Man and now he won't get help for his apnea. *sigh*

It's a race to see who can fall to sleep first and keep the other up all night.

My husband has had his machine for over a year and has only used it a maximum of 15 times. He says he can not breathe with it. They keep insisting the settings are right for him. He disagrees.

There are many different styles for the mask that goes with the machine. I know two people who had to try different mask options before they found one that worked for them.

My boyfriend talks in his sleep, snores, farts, gets up out of bed, and everything in between. After three years, I've adjusted mostly and really now, I only wake up when he's not snoring, lol.

I snore if I sleep flat on my bed, like passing out after sex or something, but normally I just breathe heavy and drool, LOL

We both snore when we are really tired. It does not bother me most of the time. I am a pretty sound sleeper.

I feel bad because of how bad I can snore. I learned a really easy fix while working at my last job doing medical transcription; if you elevate the head of your bed about 4-6", it can really help. I went to Lowes and bought a couple patio bricks, best $1.68 spent ever!

When I have head congestion I use the Liberator wedge to prop up my head - it's more than 4-6" - but a little softer than bricks!.

There are at least 6 or more styles, some cover only the nose, some cover nose and mouth, some are smaller. Like Tuesday said, he may need to try (it's expensive) different masks and settings (with his MD's OK) to see what works. But, it takes about a week and half, usually, of daily use to get used to this machine.

I keep telling My Man this, too, but he saw the masks and freaked out, and I end up smacking him so he breathes while he's sleeping......if I'm awake when it happens.....*sigh*

He has tried a couple of different masks. I would love it if he would try it everyday, but he is a grown man and I know full well I can not MAKE him do anything. I, too, smack him and tell him, "Breathe Dammit!" He will usually scare (the long silence followed by the choking/snoring of finally taking a breath) me awake during those cycles. It can be awful.

Lately, it has gotten way better though. We bought a Comfort-pedic mattress in Dec and it has made a world of difference.

I'm in EXACTLY the same place, sans the actual device. He's a grown man, and you can't make him wear it, if he doesn't want to. I HATE that silence, he doesn't ever remember it. Occasionally, he'll say, "Why did you hit me while I was sleeping?" and I'll tell him, "To prevent you from having a heart attack." *sigh*

What are you going to do?

LOL.

I've hit my boyfriend too when I don't hear him breathing.
And he is just pissed off, but so doesn't understand.

My husband has sleep apnea, and so he does snore. He never used to like to wear his sleep mask, but he got one that covers both his mouth and nose and he says it is SO comfortable. He doesn't snore at all now, as long as he wears the machine.

He snores like crazy, but its not a problem as long as its even snoring. Then I actually find it a little comforting...

Neither of us actually snore-- unless we're sick or, for some reason, napping.

My husband snores pretty bad, but it only bothers me when I'm awake to hear it, which thankfully isn't very often.

My partner and dog both snore LOUDLY. I've adjusted to sleep with the snoring. Now if they stop snoring or don't snore, I can't sleep. It helps me know they're breathing and ok when they snore.

We both have sleep apnea, I wear my machine he refuses. We both are bigger people also so this does not help.

Pretty much the same thing, my boyfriend snores sometimes, but only on his back, I nudge him to roll over and he stops

My partner snores, but it's usually not too bad. But sometimes, it's loud enough that it wakes me up (seriously, it sounds like a bear with a chainsaw) so I have to poke at him to roll over or something.

He snores but it's not so bad. It's a little annoying in that I can see how quickly he falls asleep (ALWAYS before me). I think at times his ROOMMATE though has snored so loudly that it has woken me up -__-

I just want to say - good on you for all of you who need the CPAP and wear it! I've seen those things, and they look insanely uncomfortable. I think it's great that you take your health and life seriously enough to wear that contraption!

I know I snore pretty loud, I'm overweight and probably have sleep apnea. My boyfriend doesn't like my snoring obviously, but he puts up with it and doesn't complain. When going to bed together he wears earplugs, turns on the ceiling fan and a small fan on his night stand to block out most of the noise. I also take my allergy medicine & advil to help open my sinuses plus I use those breath right strips. I still snore loud but all of these things together make it better for both of us.
