I met mine at a Christian college (which is no more) in Barrington, R.I. He's from the same hometown (well - one town over) as my mom and dad ~ so mom had said to me, "So and so's son from Mars Hill (Maine) is gonna be there...if you meet him...say hi and be friendly".
We wound up being at a luncheon for all the science majors and were going around the room introducing ourselves and sharing where we were from. When he said, "Bridgewater, Maine" I was like "oooh - I'm supposed to go say hi" and I did.
We wound up chatting - turns out the guy I was supposed to say hi to changed his mind at the last minute and went to a vo-tech school there in Maine - my hubby went to the little church my grandparents helped start and my mom played the piano there when she was 12. We talked about different houses near the church - how my uncle and aunt have lived in one of them for years and how the mobile home right down the road was my grandma's for years.
From there we talked about Maine and Aroostook County (the little I knew about it - I knew it had been Potato Capital of the World for many many years).
We wound up talking for something like 7 hours that day -having supper together, etc.
I'm so glad now that I went up and said hi to him. Its been 33 years since we met - 32 years since we've been married.

We were in school together for one year, but I didn't know him..he was new halfway through the year, then I moved away. When I moved back we ended up working together, and finding out we know a lot of the same people...things sprouted from there

We went to school together since middle school. We both have lived on the same mountain, only 2 minutes apart our entire lives! We still live on this lovely mountain. Since hes a few years older, we didn't see each other often in school, but we had the same group of friends and when I'd go to parties, he'd often be there. I actually dated a close friend of our family and he was best friends with my current partner so I had been around him then too, but never really had much to do with each other until 5 years ago. We were at a graduation party at a friend's house and I had a killer migraine. Long story short: He disappeared for a while and he came back and he had gone to the store just to get me a BC powder for my migraine! lOL. It took me 10 mins to get that thing down, not even beer would get rid of that taste. After squirming and gagging and my migraine easing up I started drinking. As the night went on I kept trying to get his attention, but he didn't seem overly interested. By the next night I got a call from him! He had called 6 different people to get my number. He was telling the story to our 12 year old just the other day.
We went to another part at another friend's house that night and well.... here we are!

Then my dad and my hubby were hanging out and I had not turn 18 yet, my birthday is in Dec we started sort of hanging out in Oct, but it was cool by my mom and dad and we waited until 18 for anything. So we met a strange way and everyone who hears it is like "Oh wow!"

we worked for different companies but in the same office building. everyone thought we were perfect for each other, but for a year i found him incredibly annoying. then we both quit and i moved away, and we bbm'd every day since i left and about a month or two later we were official. we've gone back to the office and everyone is so happy for us. they all knew all along. we even went to the Christmas party for my old work last weekend
