I know its early to be thinking about it but I was at CVS and they have their displays up. I have been dating my boyfriend over a year now (been friends for 10 years), but we don't really do the whole valentine's thing. I want to surpise him with some sexy outfit and some new toys. I wonder if that would make him feel bad if he doesn't do anything for me? I wonder if its a good idea? Maybe I should make it like a feb. 13th present? Any suggestions or advice?
Celebrating Valentine's Day?

Just ask him if he'd like to plan something with you for that night, that way it doesn't become a one-up's-man-ship situation and trying to outdo (or underdo) each other. Suggest the typical dinner and night in, then pull out the lingerie for it (save the new toys for another time). That way he doesn't feel put on the spot and you can still celebrate it.

Thank you. I guess its because I know he doesn't wanna do "valentine's day normal stuff" that I'm thinking maybe I just suprise him and not say anything. Like you pointed out though I don't wanna "one up" him in anyway either.

As long as he doesn't drop out of existence that week (guys have done it to me), then you're okay for just asking if you can do something together "just for the heck of it".

I hope he does SOMETHING for you for VD. Even when I was flat broke, I still made a paper card for my GF at the time and wrote her favorite poem on it.
But if you're worried you'll steal his thunder, yeah, just keep it low key and don't say that what you're doing is for Valentine's.

This makes me feel much better. We just don't do the flowers candy chocolate jewlery crap. Last year he bought me a hoody I got him cards because we said we weren't doing anything. I felt so cheap. I know gift giving isn't about what u give or get but I love making people smile. =) thank you for making me feel better about buying him something.

Just do what you're planning, guys don't really think about feeling too bad about forgetting and if he does he'd probably get over it quick, that's how my boyfriend is
