So we talk a lot about fucking around here, don't we? I'll admit, I have historically been a big proponent of cutting out the roses and chocolates and getting down to business, but lately that has changed somewhat. I am in a long term relationship with someone I really love, and with all the discounts and gift cards I've been stowing away I have suddenly found myself in position of quite a substantial stash of candles, oils and lotions. These things have really made me appreciate how much a little foreplay and sensuality can do for sex.
I'm curious to know your top five favorite "sensual" activities: by this I mean activities that indulge your senses and stimulate them in a way that is decadent and possibly sexual, but are not sexual acts in and of themselves. These can be things you enjoy alone or with a partner. They don't have to necessarily be sexual or lead to sex, either. I would consider a really beautifully prepared meal sensual in the strictest definition of the word, which is "pertaining to, inclined to, or preoccupied with the gratification of the senses or appetites; carnal; fleshly." So think outside the box, and let me know what you come up with!
Mine are, in no particular order:
1.) Showering with my partner and washing each other. This means shampooing one another, scrubbing the back, legs, armpits, everything! It's a routine thing for us that actually started last year when I was very sick. I had a flu and was quite dizzy, so he stood with me in the shower to support me and help me clean up. We thought it was really beautiful and loving and intimate so now we do it all the time
2.) Cuddling under blankets (alone or with someone else) freshly showered, with freshly brushed teeth, watching Planet Earth. Just the feeling of being clean, warm and ready for bed, under the soft glow of a television study of cave ecology...
3.) Watching painters stretch and prepare canvas. Totally random, I know, but I love watching it. The find the whole ritual really relaxing but engaging at the same time. I can't explain it but I really love it.
4.) Submerging my feet in warm liquid. I once did this really cool thing where you dipped your feet in hot wax and then peeled the wax off...coolest thing ever. I have since then decided that putting my feet in any kind of warm liquid is the most relaxing and stimulating thing in the world.
5.) Eating any kind of slow cooked meat that literally falls off the bone when you touch it with a fork. In a room with low, warm lighting.
