I am a sucker for Olive Garden or a fat juicy steak (with some ketchup... shoot me. :p ) My favorites are the small businesses run by actual people of different cultures, therefore making authentic, delicious, and affordable food. Must go to El Mexicano,

Thanks for this thread, I have a date on Thursday and I was wondering where to go... yummy steak tacos... OMG *Drool*

I also absolutely love Mandarin House. BEST CRAB CHEESE EVER

It's rare we go out but when we do I like to be comfy and cozy so I put the mom & pop restaurants. We have a really great rib place run by locals that is awesome and where it's not cheap it's not 100 bucks a plate nor do you have to dress all stuffy to enter. But more likely you'll find me cooking and I'm pretty good at it.

I'd love to take him out for dinner at a nice place, but there isn't really any around here. The only nearby super expensive restaurant is in a little German town and they don't really have food we enjoy. We have gone there before and have decided that we really didn't care for the food for how much we paid for it, which was nearly $50 a person.

We both definitely prefer dinner when I cook or when we both cook. That way, we both get something made with ingredients we like, seasoned to our taste.

I voted for the high end restaurant, even though I wouldn't pay for $100 a plate. My wife and I enjoy a Brazilian churrascaria steakhouse at $50 a plate, Maggiano's for good Italian, and we went for our 6 month anniversary to a restaurant on top of a tall building that rotated around. Very cool evening.

Hmmm . . . That restaurant that rotates on the top of a tall building wouldn't happen to be in Dallas, would it?

I would cook or go to a fast food place. Something simple.

I think it's more intimate to cook for someone. Plus I love cooking for other people, especially my partner.

i prefer doing to cooking myself. i find the whole process of laning menues and grocery shopping (alright, any type of shopping...) relaxing. But I LOVE to cook, and everyone thats ever tried my food says it's quite good.

if i want a romantic dinner i would prefer to get better quality AND lower cost food by cooking myself. plus already being home makes it much easier to bring things to the bedroom. Not to mention i don't do that well with large groups of people...

Being that I'm a strict vegetarian living in a relatively vegetarian-unfriendly locale, I find it much better to make the food. It's cheaper, tastes good, and I know it's healthy.

I would take my date to one of my favourite restaurants (they vary in price point form regular restaurant rates to about 2x regular restaurant rates), or I'd go on a picnic with some home made or deli bought delights.

idk it depends on what phase of the relationship we're in. if it's a first date, i wouldn't mind something like chili's or maccoroni's (and if he makes me food, that's nice too!). if it's an anniversary, i want something nicer than that. but if it's anything else, i'm content with us making dinner.

Agreed. I have to drive over an hour to the nearest Red Lobster, but I still do it!

For a date, it depends on the person and what they like. I cook (and damned well if I may say so), so it's more for the atmosphere. I like unusual places, whether that be Trump Tower or a beach barbecue. As long as the food is good, I'm happy. Picnics are great dates if you know the person - being preoccupied with the prep is probably not the best way to show yourself for a first date.

We have some good privately owned mom & pop places to eat here. I love when a guy can cook for me though. I def can't cook

I either cook myself, we cook together, or we go to small local restaurants, usually either Thai food or this really nice but slightly pricey place where everything's vegan and organic.
