I tried Match in the past, and Plenty of Fish more recently. Didn't have much luck with either.

I'm currently trying it, the guys I've gone on dates with so far haven't been a good fit for me, but I'm going to keep trying for a couple of more months and hope for the best.

I've tried it but have met some strange types. Either they do not resemble their photo [it's them but much older now], or they lied about a lot of things in their profile questions, or they just want a booty call. Just deleted my profile last week because absolutely nothing has come of it.

I've been on 2 free sites at the same time. not able to actually meet anyone other than those that want just sex from the outset. and, I've received a lot of messages from kids, scammers, weirdos, & flat out assholes. I'm not willing to pay money if this is all I get out of these 2 sites.

I'm an older guy perhaps that's why my expectation of web dating site is that it's just a tool to use to facilitate meeting someone.
Surprise surprise, there are both nice people as well as manipulative assholes who use the sites. It's for us to figure out who is one or the other, the site isn't going to do that for us. I've been with my lover now for five years, who I met through a dating site that no longer exists. Without that site I would never have met her.

prefer to meet people in places i already hang out online, and i find that works well for lots of people i know (and it's how i met my gf!) it seems far more effective than dating sites, which seems to attract a good deal of creeps and don't seem to work out for many people.
