When you really like someone you are dating, and not just looking for a one-night-stand, how long do you generally wait before sleeping with them?

It depends on the person and how fast you make a connection and form trust. I didn't with one of my exs until 4 or 5 months together but with my current gf it just clicked and we did after a month of dateing.

I usually know within about a month whether I am going to sleep with someone or not

I would wait more than a month to make sure the relationship is solid and not just about sex.

I don't really have a hard and fast rule on this. I really am flexible, and I can adapt to what feels comfortable with that particular person/relationship. In some relationships I've waited months, but in my current relationship it was the first night we met.

if I was dating again, I would wait until I knew the person pretty well.

Well, I had to vote for "more than one month" because my current partner and I waited a year and a half. However, we had originally planned to wait until marriage and he was my first, so....yeah. I guess I wait until I could see myself marrying that person in the future.

I'd say sooner the better because if something is wrong with the other party or they are just not for you 'that way' then you are wasting your time. First time is kinda overrated. I wouldn't wait too long anymore. There was a time when I was younger and thought if I met a virgin I'd train her for a year or as long as she wants and when she's ready. But after the age of 20 there are not many virgins running around, and sex very soon is an everyday thing nowadays. At least in the subculture where I'm from we wouldn't wait months..

I dont believe in waiting until marriage but i dont believe in screwing within the first few weeks. It depends on the person and how much i trust them and after i get the results of their std records. srry but i dont take chances!

As a general rule it takes 2-3 dates before the physical happens. Just keeps things easier while still havin' fun.

It takes awhile for me to trust someone. So I'd probably wait a month or more. At least until I feel comfortable with them.

I made my fiancee wait nearly 7 months before anything (and I mean anything) happened (not on purpose...I was just a platinum vCard holder). I made my exes wait a few weeks, so I guess if I was to meet someone new, it would take maybe a few weeks.

For someone I'm serious about, I'd wait at least 3 - 4 weeks. I'm not going to give it up too soon.

There should be an 'other' category for this poll because I would choose something much longer. My boyfriend and I waited until almost a year after we had started dating. I think that was right for us, but we were also both virgins so that made things a bit more complex, I suppose. We both wanted to make sure we were in love before we made that kind of connection

I definitely thing it's a different dynamic when you're both virgins; that was what happened with my current partner and I, we wanted to wait until it was the right time and we felt the connection.

my girlfriend and i had the illusion of waiting till marriage... that did not work out very well once we were alone for a min lol, but we did hold off for two year and a half so it was still great to have been with her and gotten to know her so well before then.

I'd wait until I got to know them and felt comfortable. Probably within a couple of weeks.

Well... I have done one night stands for just sex.... I have done one night stands with dates that I decided were never going to work but they were hot enough I wanted to fuck. I have had boyfriends in the past who had to wait from a week to a month to get it. My husband when we were dating had to wait almost three months - and that was for anything but a kiss. I even let him sleep over in my bed while i wore nothing or a thong at best and nothing for him till the three month give-up. LOL I think he still has night terror from that wait.

You've really got five choices for a month or less and then if it's more than a month its until you're married?! That's not a very useful range of choices. Most people I know wait 3-6 months.

I need an "Other" option on this one. I think all my relationships started after we had already had casual sex... I wanted to keep things as Friends With Benefits but they pursued a relationship.

Hmm... I don't have a rule about it. But, if it goes in that direction, it happens.
