Valentine's is coming and my partner usually buys me flowers. I'm torn because I love to receive them but I feel like maybe he shouldn't buy them since they are just going to die? What do you think about flowers?
Do you like receiving flowers?

Maybe I'm just spiteful because of allergies, but I hate flowers as a presents; they die in a couple of days and are a waste of money. My version of an ideal romantic gesture is a surprise of tacos or a thick pair of socks.

I think flowers are nice sometimes but I would rather something that lasts longer.

I wouldn't want a big bouquet, just because they do die, and I feel bad letting them just die in my kitchen. But I do enjoy getting a few flowers. My husband surprises me every now and then with a single stargazer lily or two. My favorite flower, and even just a few of them scent up the whole house, lol.

I love to get flowers, tulips are some of my favorites, but I also like when I get flowers that are growing in a pot so they don't die in a couple of days (it usually takes a couple of weeks for my black thumb to kill them )

Black thumb here too! I'm 2 years running on dead poinsettias by New Years. I just don't know how to keep them alive.

I agree that maybe one or two of my favorite flower would be nice, but honestly, I think flowers are a waste. I like more thoughtful gifts.

I don't mind if I get flowers, but it doesn't matter if I don't. I'd rather get something that will last.. or even a plant that I can take care of instead of some flowers that will die.

It is the thought that counts, but, yeah. Lol

I'd rather get a plant. Especially plants that I can eat, like herbs or fruits.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!
If he wants to get me something he should get me a card or better yet make it himself. I think flowers are expensive and overrated.

Flowers are nice, but a card that someone took the time to pick out is nice as well.

Love them

my wife does not like cut flowers because they die too fast. I always get her a potted plant, that way she can enjoy it for many years to come.

Uh, duh I am in love with Ghiradelli milk chocolate carmel squares. Maybe I should start hinting for those instead!

I love flowers. Stargazer lilies are my favorite. They smell wonderful to me but I know a lot of people are allergic to them or it gives them a headache. I would never expect to receive them. I can dream, though!

I love flowers, but nothing excessive. A single flower will do. Calla Lilies are my favorite, but a single red rose is so romantic. If it is not a single flower, I would rather have them planted in a pot or outside, if it in season. That being said, flowers are not my favorite gifts. I like receiving experiences- concert, play, stand-up... something that we can enjoy together and of course make love afterward.

If I'm getting a plant I prefer that it is potted. I love plants.

I love flowers but would rather have a plant that is alive so that it lasts longer than a week!

I like to get flowers on occasion. Just something that is totally random and unnecessary for no other reason than to put a smile on my face. As a standard and obligatory gift for all holidays. Hell no, that has the exact opposite effect. It shows a lack of effort or willingness and possibly consideration to find a gift that is really for ME and not just for "a girl".

I don't like flowers at all. It just seems so wasteful to me since they die in a couple of days. I've been given leather roses before, I like those. I like that they are around for basically forever, and they are so pretty. In general, there's definitely other things I would prefer to receive. Candy, food, flowers - these things are things which I'd rather not get.

I tell my husband and every one, I'm not the type of girl you buy flowers for. Yes, it's a nice gesture, but if you want to get me flowers just get me a single rose and give me a gift card for the rest of the $100 you would have spent on the other 11 roses to make a dozen, lol. I'd rather get something that will last. Roses die too fast and I have a black thumb anyway, lol.

I have allergies.. But Im not allergic to flowers. I like flowers, just not the traditional roses. One time, he surprised me and got me orchids, another time sunflowers... I love it. As long as its not the traditional kind of flower, I am happy.

I love flowering plants that hang around for a few weeks or longer.

Not really unless they're still in a pot.

My partner gets me flowers pretty frequently (Almost once a month!) and does an excellent job of picking them out. Some are even organically grown, pretty cool! They make me sad when they start dying, though. I have tried preserving some, but I can't exactly have dead flowers everywhere. I could ask for more live ones, but I can't keep plants alive and I don't like asking for specific kinds of gifts. Cut flowers are convenient for my partner, something he very much likes to give, nice to have around. Though there are things I might like more, I am very grateful for these expressions of love.

He asked me what time I'd be home on Monday so I think there's a delivery in my future. It is a sweet gesture (and I hope there's some chocolates with it!)

I like flowers - but I hate red roses. send me white, or pink, or yellow. Hell, send me sunflowers, or lilacs, orchids. Just not red roses! They are so cliche and everyone "loves" them. I like to be different.
