I didn't, my first date we went to a museum and then to dinner...but honestly, I love that sort of thing, and so did he.

For a first date, I think a movie doesn't allow enough time to talk and get to know each other. I prefer coffee/food and lots and lots of talking. :3

Even a million years ago, when we were dating, we never did a "movie" on a first date. No interaction in a movie. No way to get to know each other. YES, it does give you something in common to talk about later, but if you don't have anything to speak about prior to that...well, not the best match anyway.

Nope I think most first dates have dinner more than anything

My first date (I only had one) was dinner and then sitting awkwardly on a couch in his apartment.

I don't date anymore, but yes... in High School that is all we did!

I would just go to dinner on the first date.

I have once, but it's not my favorite. I would never suggest it for a first date because it is hard to talk to them and get to know them if you are watching a movie.

Haha! It should have an other for cases like me. He asked me out to see a movie but the theater was closed when we got there so we just talked and stuff. We tried a couple more times with no luck as well! We would get to the theater but for one reason or another would then have to change our plans. So we never did end up on a movie date.

I prefer to be able to get to know them on a date. Can't talk in a theater.

I've always heard to not go to the movies on your first date since you need to talk to see if you're compatible.

I prefer dinners and museums for first dates. Lots to talk about.
My sister, who is pretty hardcore anti-High Culture, got taken to a filmed opera by a first date. She was not impressed. I think the guy was thinking 'Oh, I'll take out this beautiful, classy librarian to the opera, that'll impress her', when my sister would really much rather go to a game store and play Magic: The Gathering all night.

I used to, but not anymore. You can't really get to know someone that way. Going out to eat or going to a park is normally how I go now.

I tend to get to know girls as friends first, so we end up hanging out or doing something low key for the first date

Usually dinner and whatever else afterwards I am not a movie watcher

I didn't, my first real date with my husband(which was my first date ever) we went to lunch, then we went bowling, then we went to the mall, then we went dinner, then we went mini-golfing(we were long distance, so we had actually been together 9 months and since he was there just to visit me we spent the entire weekend together, that was just one day).
