To Shave or Not to Shave?

...their pubic hair.

Cameron Diaz thinks women shouldn't laser off their pubes and that it's a relatively new fad. She likens it to wearing the latest "It" jeans.

Evidently, Ms. Diaz can add "author" to her already lengthy resume; The Body Book. In said book, Ms. Diaz has a section devoted to shaving/lasering, or rather a lack there of. You see, she believes that pubic hair provides a bit of a surprise for a potential lover and even dares to say that it can invite them in to take a closer look.

I was almost with her until that last line there -- if you are getting a chance to find out whether or not I have pubic hair, there's a really good chance that the invitation has been extended for you to take a closer look regardless of my grooming choices.

So now, I have to ask...

I'm bare myself, and I appreciate a well groomed man as well. It's cleaner, smoother and much prettier if you ask me.

Always bare and prefer my men the same way.

For myself/women, I prefer clean shaven. It's so much softer and cleaner feeling.
But honestly with guys I don't think it really matters. How odd would it look if they had a bald crotch and the rest of their body was all hairy?
I prefer men trimmed, but have no complaints if they don't do any landscaping down there

I prefer to make a close cut w/ scissors myself. shaving leaves hurtful nicks & the stubble growing back is extremely annoying.

and for my guy(s), I prefer they shave cuz there always seems to be an unpleasant odor no matter how well showered. besides, I find it distasteful getting hair in my mouth.

I have been "clean shaven" long before it was "in fad" and I got hubby into it, since I am a very oral gal and simply hated to have hair in my mouth. However, we both shave every morning in the shower to stay this way. I am not sure I would laser off the hair down there, and part of it may indeed be the thought of "styles" changing. Can I see myself growing a bush down there ever again? Not really. However, when I am 89, do I see myself having a baby's smooth bottom? Not sure how I feel about that either!

My wife took the plunge and went with a fully bare laser treatment. I shave. We both love the clean, smooth, bare accessibility.

I'm bare and am right there with LilyBelle- I prefer my guy trimmed since it's neater, but it's not 100% necessary as long as it isn't out of control.

Heck, plenty of my female friends don't even shave their armpits.

Actually, I can vouch for this -- hubby is pretty hairy from head to toe (we're not talking ruggish, here) and he shaves. The bare spot draws my eyes to that area which in and of itself is arousing.

I like to shave myself bare but I am often lazy with shaving immediately after having shaved. Because of this, I alternate between being bare and having a slight buzz. Hairs annoy me after a while, so I do shave them off... just not immediately.

Just started shaving again after not doing so for years. I think it has a lot to do w/ the fact that I have lost a lot of weight I've gained over the course of my marriage, and I am starting to feel sexy again I definitely prefer my OWN self like that, and I recently asked my man, and he likes it this way, too. It also definitely helps in the hygiene dept., if you ask me

I like it short, it's just more comfortable. I find when it grows out I catch my hair on pantyliners or they get caught up in my undies and tug.

I shave along my bikini line, and trim the rest go so it isn't to bushy and tangled.

I've gone full bare a couple times, but it's a pain to do so, and I have how it itches when the hair starts growing back, as well as how prickly the hair is until it gets long enough.

I am a woman and I hate hair! I am bare and am repulsed by men or women that don't shave done there. If I am in a sexual relationship with someone, they gotta be bare down there.

I prefer being clean and hairless, but shaving doesn't do it for me. My hair grows luxuriously fast and I will have stubble within 12 hours, so I have to wax. Waxing is inconvenient and awkward during growth periods, though, and I just found out about epilators thanks to my little brother. (Weird place to find out about them, I know. But I raised him to take care of himself, and he prefers to have a bare chest. XD) And they will pull the teeniest hairs out as soon as you can feel them and then your hair growing back will be smooth babyhairs and not sharp shaved off hairs. Anyway, that's what I prefer and how I have to get there.

Also lookwise I prefer my guy have his hair trimmed, but I recently found out that when he has a bush, it rubs up against my clit when I'm riding him hard and grinding... and it is heavenly. So I changed my mind about it. I like his hair very much...

I prefer myself and other woman to be bare. Men I'm kind of... I don't care on. If he is SUPER hairy, I'd really like him to at least trim up the top and the balls, but if he's got moderate hair, as long as it's not super long or anything, then it's fine. And a bare man is just as hot to me, so it doesn't matter.

Congratulations on the weight loss! It's amazing how much body image plays into our sexual desires. I'm happy for you!

Oh I know! And sometimes it pokes into sensitive areas and starts to itch and well, god forbid a lady "adjust" herself in the presence of, well, anyone. LOL

This was forever ago, but a boss of mine got her's lasered off -- all I have to say is thoroughly research the place and the person first. She has permanent scarring all over her mons and labia because the woman didn't know what the fark she was doing. She was super embarrassed by it and refused to get naked for her husband for a very long time. It took almost a year of coaxing and gentle reassurance before she felt comfortable enough to let him see.

Have they made an epilator that doesn't feel like it's pulling the hair follicle itself out?

It's the wiry, straight and poking out in every direction imaginable hair that I can't stand. *poke poke poke* JUST STOP IT ALREADY.

I'm extremely tactile sensitive, though. I can feel the slightest imperfection in a fingertip.

Sounds terrible - fortunately when my wife had her Brazilian laser treatments done it went very well.

A skilled practitioner definitely matters. Since there were multiple sessions (6 I think)the practitioner increased the power with each session - gauging the effect on my wife's skin with each bump in power.

Another point - even if done well, an annual touch-up is recommended.

Oh my gosh yes!! Those hairs irritate me when they're on my own body!

Sometimes my fiance's stubble will irritate my face and turn it red.

It still hurts pretty bad. And if you get a cheap one, it can bite your loose skin if you don't pull it taut. Fortunately, I got an expensive one that won't bite anything no matter what. As far as the pain goes, well... I'm just good at handling pain. lol After I get used to it, it doesn't bother me anymore.
