Ha, this is pretty funny. Apparently Coca-Cola is using the Two Girls One Cup phenomena as an advertising push. They are not using, linking to, or showing the video). I think this is great, but I would also not have approved it if it was my job!

Two Girls One Coke?

I think it was in terrible taste - they posted it to a 14 year old's Facebook account. Ugh. AVN's article is actually spot-on.

What about One Guy One Jar?
07/21/2010
Gahhh yea I would be pretty furious if I was that mom. I guess people need to realize though that when you give someone control over your status that bad stuff can and probably WILL happen.
07/21/2010
That kid (teenager, whatever) shouldn't have been allowed to enter in the first place... with those kinds of contests, don't you have to be 18+ (or whatever the legal age is. I think in GB, it's 18.) to participate?
I hardly blame this on Coca-Cola completely. The kid signed up for it, and she should have expected that pretty much anything goes, and that was the point of the "status takeover." I do think that they should have only allowed (if it wasn't the case) 18+ year olds to participate, and should have had a disclaimer that the statuses may not be the most kosher ever.
The mom has every reason to be upset, but she should be more upset with her daughter for either lying about her age or not reading the fine print than with Coca-Cola.
Just an opposing viewpoint.

I don't think Coca-Cola is responsible in this case...though I'm sure the parents had plenty of reason to be furious about it. However, I do think it's poor taste marketing and something that probably would get someone fired...

So I searched out the video and found it... and I'm all for potty humor.. But that should be stricken from popular culture.. Cheesy EWWWW
...and Coca-Cola should have let that disturbing video die in people's memories instead of associating it with their product.... even in a silly viral campaign!! The fact that a 14 year old ended up being involved with it... even worst.. that was just further irresponsible.
So its popular amongst your target demographic... AND>??? that doesnt mean you need to use it in your marketing? Sad. Sad. Sad.
If you have to resort to that video to sell your product...ummmm wonder if what your selling is worth buying...
but Im getting off topic... summary of it: 14 year old references indecent video so that Coca Cola can make more money. Classic moral FAIL!!!

I agree with msblackpetite... Is that the kind of thing that ANY major company wants forever linked to their product?
Commercials stick with us (pop pop fizz fizz; I'd like to teach the world to sing; the hess truck's back and it's better than ever...) and I definitely think this one is a misstep that won't go away.

No this didn't have an age filter on it. The child has a net filter on her comp and the company is 100% to blame for this. This child's parents ARE doing everything they can to prevent this sort of idiocy. Whomever approved this should be sanctioned or fired...it's just nasty beyond nasty.
